Appears 2 gents broke in or tried to forcibly enter a residence and were met with a distasteful objection to their entry and no charges will be filed. Click link and read the rest of the article.

UPDATE: No charges filed in Dearing Street shooting
Margaret Carmel May 15, 2017

UPDATE, TUESDAY, 5:40 A.M.: No charges have been filed in connection with a shooting Monday night in Lynchburg, police said.

Police went to a home on the 800 block of Dearing Street at 9:41 p.m. after a caller reported someone was robbing the home and shots had been fired inside.

Once there, police found two men with gunshot wounds, one lying in the yard and the other in the doorway to the home. Both were taken to the hospital with critical injuries, Lynchburg police said in a news release.

One of the two found shot has died as of this morning. The both of them were aged 18, which leads me to think that neither are the homeowner. A check of the Lynchburg GIS for the homes in the 800 block of Dearing Street reveals that no one with their last names owns a home on that block, so I would also think that this is likely a case where 2 intruders won the stupid prize for their stupid game.

Here's a follow up to the story from last week. The robber who was shot (apparently by the home occupant) and lived has now been released from the hospital and has been charged on a line of felonies.

From my recollection of recent robberies around here, this seems like the 2nd one I can recall where the robbers were shot upon entering a home. The other was over in Forest / Timberlake area if I recall correctly.
