while visiting the sin city, i discovered i had lucked out (or so i thought at the time) and managed to make it to town when a gun show was being advertised...so i hopped over to the sports center, paid my $16 bucks and entered.

lets see, there were several tables pushing vests; there were at least three tables with stinky scented items; there were at least eight tables with jewelry; there were four coin tables; at least six tables pushing cheap knives; one huge conglomerate of tables with gun bags; four tables pushing new and used scopes; there were maybe three pushing ammo - that could have been purchased on the outside market cheaper; and perhaps, just perhaps there were no less than eight pushing guns - old guns/rifles, used pistols, AR parts. oh yes, there was hawker selling a small pistol i had never heard of, which impressed me so i have already forgotten the name of it!

let's not forget the nevada leather table with the more than cranky gentleman who truly wished he could be any place but where he was! i stumbled upon his attitude after i asked a question wish i hadn't and then left him to this solitude sitting in the corner of his vending area.

nor shall we forget the nra's table manned by a group of good old boys sitting next to the NV gun coalition the other half of the good old boys.

old is the key word as it appeared most in attendance served with teddy and the rough riders and made me feel like a spring chicken.

now those hosting their tables sat or stood around chatting amongst themselves and got irritated when a passerby wanted to interrupt and ask a question!

the show was poorly attended (majority were vendors walking about ) with the majority walking about grumbling about the significant lack of guns, i seriously contemplated asking for my money back especially after spending cab fare to get there and knowing i had to spend more to back to civilization.

shame actually, as i was expecting better.

Well if anyone would like to setup the Nevada Carry table with me, I'm game. Figure we need some lovely young women to boot.

There are 2 gun show groups in this town. That one is terrible. The other one is only slightly better. I attend neither one of them any longer as they do not allow loaded carry. Among other issues.

I CC'd at the last one I went to at South Point. I'll be damned if I'm going to be disarmed there.

I doubt I will attend the Cashman Center shows at all.

You bring up an interesting point. There is an aging problem in the gun community. I have witnessed the same phenomenon in the motorcycle world... Notice how Harley started building trikes. They do not build trikes because they are "cooler" than bikes, They build trikes because their clientele are aging.

I took my son to the Laughlin river run one year on a Thursday afternoon. I overheard comments like "What is this kinder Care? The close minded commentary/ treatment was obvious. The reason I bring that up is this. If you have not been to a gun shop, and been subjected to what I call the "Little Missy" treatment . I want to know where you shop. The Know it all attitude combined with the zest for jumping on any "idiot" that does not handle firearms perfectly, without a learning curve.... Makes gun ownership an unpleasant experience, and drives otherwise like minded people away.

Garand guy has a great idea, I support his efforts but realize how the "Old Guard" will go out of their way to diminish, and smear.

If I go to a TV store, and buy an entry level TV, there generally is no stigma attached. Go to a gun store and shop for a hi Point, notice the difference.
The young culture saggs their trousers, "it's an urban thang" This non issue dives the supposedly "liberty (small) minded old guys crazy! I see it as an improvement over mullets and half shirts. I would like to see a gun culture that "builds people with differences up." Sadly it does not seem to be contagious.

This depends A LOT on the store. I only shop and steer people places that aren't full of Fudds or jerks.
