You can always try to get the proposal amended to include OC or drop the permit requirement.

In any event, it is positive progress. Why would you not support that?

I had read earlier about Henry Burns filing a bill to lift the ban on church carry, but that article didn't include the little tidbit that it would only be for those the pastor "approves".

Meanwhile, Rep. Henry Burns filed a bill that would permit concealed handguns at churches, synagogues, mosques and any other places of worship -- if the church leader allows them. Burns, R-Haughton, said the measure was designed to let churches strengthen their security, with armed officers if they'd like. He said he wasn't envisioning a minister or pastor allowing everyone to come to services with guns strapped to their sides.

I'm of the opinion thatwe should be able to carry without legal hassle as we go about our daily lives. Too often we hear the story in which the LEO just got there a little too late.I'm not blaming them...but, they can't be everywhere; all the time. I think this site is doing a great job.

Now, if only Louisiana would make a gallant effort to repeal anti-Carry Law concerning Alcoholic Beverage Outlets, and alos the UnconstitutionalConsent to Search Law concerning Firearms whereupon.

The two Laws so citied are Louisiana Statutes 14:95.4 and 14:95.5.

Both of these Statutes are uncalled for, and 14:95.4 is Unconstitutional.

Louisiana Constitutional Right Article 1 Right 5 should trump 14:95.4.

Baby steps, folks.

Our rights were nibbled away bit by bit, slowly over time. Unfortunately, that is likely the only way we will get them back. Call or write the Legislative members who will be voting on this and tell them you support it.

Absolutely!!! This is most certainly one way we MUST pursue... and it's relatively easy to do....

There are other things we CAN do if we decide to get off our individual butts and focus. Most of the "nibbling" has occurred as a result of the "teeth" poor legal precedent has provided. We NEED to learn how to build good legal arguments because the attorneys are NOT doing us any favors. It's on US.

aadvark recognizes that 14:95.4 is unconstitutional. All he has to do now is build the legal argument. It just takes TIME...
