Well it Appears that our state as well as the country is coming alive. I am glad to see that there are great bills not only in Oklahoma but in Texas and on the state level.

MDA has been backed in to the corner with so many losses and not one single legitamit win anywhere that does anything for them and now they are in Texas fighting a losing battle to keep people from the right to protect their self.

In Oklahoma I am proud of our 2nd amendment supporters and I have noticed a few more open carriers out and about. So keep up the good work Oklahoma (And every where else too)

I agree it is looking better. But we need to find a way to stop all the infighting in the gun community. If we can somehow find a way to keep open carriers and conceal carriers from going at each other we will be that much stronger. But I don't know how we can do such a mighty task. Sadly it seems there are more against open carry than there is for it in the gun world.

Very true. We need a good support group in Oklahoma to kind of spearhead the movement towards constitutional carry. We had a lot of groups pop up after words but any more I dont see anything from any one at all about it. Perhaps if we could motivate more people to get active with range dates and meeting up for out door get togethers at parks and such we may gain some ground. These days it seems like we are all but stalled in trying to get more people motivated.

There are several people starting to O.C. but they are still few and far between. I just hope it becomes more common place.

I have no affiliation with the group, but OK2A has been trying to get constitutional carry passed for several years now and have legislation again this year for constitutional carry. Or I should say the legislation would require a constitutional amendment so if the legislation passes, the constitutional amendment would go to a vote of the people.

Then again, OK2A is another group that you used to hear a lot from, but lately it seems they have petered out a bit and aren't putting out as much information as they used to. I think this has to do with changes in peoples lives over time.

I think this is the biggest factor. The economy is in poor shape, the healthcare systems causing major problems and thus gun rights have fallen to the way side. While a handful of moms are trying to sound like more there are fewer people pushing for more gun rights too. Both sides have shrunk considerably as new topics in life have become more pressing

I think another thing that would help is if Pro open carry LEOs would try and convince others of the pros of open carry as well.

When I am at work I dont hold back when asked. I try to give fair and unbiased opinions. There are pros and cons in everything no matter what it is in life. Open carry is no exception. Like for example people ask me about the first to get shot or someone tries to take your firearms. I dont respond with answers like "Its never happened" Because Id be giving a false sense of security. I do however tell people the truth that it is in fact a possibility but also so is driving a car or riding a motorcycle. If you obey common sense rules and train for things like that it greatly reduces the chances.

Also when it comes to conceal carry there is no doubt there is some element of secrecy that may keep a criminal guessing. This is very much a true statement but it can also lead to unwanted confrontations that turn violent.

Open carry and conceal carry are both real and not a game. There fore it should be treated with respect. One common analogy I always hated hearing rookies say is "If someone pulls a gun on me..........." Because being in a real life gun fight is serious. We always want to win for our families but we also have to remember that real lives are saved and real lives are lost. People carrying need to train often and realize that if you want to be safe and win in a gun fight you have to take it serious and train just as much to avoid being in a bad situation to start with as we do to win.

I advocate first and foremost assesing every situation and determining which will work best CC or OC. I then assess if its a place I need to pack and if so should I be going in to begin with.

The best defense after all is not to be there in the first place ;-)

Not saying one shouldn't train nor that training doesn't help.

That said it appears that a large number of cases where people use guns to defend themselves, they are not very well trained or hardly ever used or pickup their guns on a regular basics.

It comes back to the first rule of a gun fight have a gun and in lot of the cases the person you are defending yourself against doesn't have a gun.

But then after watching a lot of videos of people defending themselves. For a lot of them some training and practice would go a long ways.
