Too bad for them it's legal to open carry in all the places listed with a CPL. They ought to do their homework next time.

Shame on you guys for scaring the poor sheep.

You should have shown up dressed in hoodies and doo rags with your hands in your pockets to be less threatening to them! :banghead:

I am quite sure that all libraries in the entire State of Michigan are aware of the legal action involving CADL... and I strongly suspect many of them are willing to jump on the gun control bandwagon in support of CADL.

And, in my opinion, this idea that guns shouldn't be allowed in libraries is merely more of the idea that anyone in any "official" capacity, no matter how small or insignificant, has the power and authority to tell everyone else what to do.... regardless of rights or legalities.

Actually, I think if they knew they would have barred us from entering the library. The fact that they did not ask us to leave nor did they post any sign prohibiting us from using the restrooms while openly carrying our firearms tells me that even if they knew, they did not want to get involved. what is interesting is that a state rep already proposed a bill for libraries to be added to the 28.425o areas... and it went nowhere.

Again, God Bless the Internet.

Someday, libraries will be a thing of the past.

Who wants to go to the library to watch the perverts stand around the children's section or see them watch porn on the public computers.

I'd rather look something up on my laptop or iphone.

When they are closed, there will be no more libraries trying to pull nonsense.

I noticed, the internet also seems to be getting rid of other gun free zones, like the post office :)

CADL is about an authority and only involves Ingham Co at this point. Libraries not under an authority has already be ruled on in MCRGOs vs Ferndale which was about a library.

Yep. In MCRGOs vs Ferndale, the issue was any building under the authority of city. I don't know under which of the various library acts the Baldwin library in Birmingham is formed under.

Some folks here have noticed that Birmingham is trying to "play it safe" with PR, and keep quiet in the media while they let the courts do their dirty work. Is this an opportunity to let Birmingham turn itself into a media circus (with our help of course)?

Is it an incorporated authority? I couldn't find any language in that regard. Even so, until the CoA decision the ban is only good in Ingham County.

Now that really makes me wish I had walked up to the circulation desk with my unmentionable and asked if they had any books on reloading.

There are two active bills already submitted by Joan Bauer that would add libraries to 750.234d and 28.425o. They are old bills that Joan expected to be dead on arrival. I don't have the numbers… But they are for this session.
