Yooperlady and I (me OC'ing) went to

Beacon & Bridge near Montrose for gas... no one much cared about my sidearm as it should be....... then...

Taco Bell in Clio today and a large family came in after we did and stood in line behind us. Two young boys, I'm guessing about 10 yrs old or so, immediately asked me if I was a police officer and when I said I wasn't one youngster asked me why I had a gun... so I told him..

"Good people carry guns to protect good people like you from bad people."

That boy smiled and wandered off happy as can be.

Oh... Yooperlady and I left $5 to help with their meals too .....

Then we went to Wal Mart to get a few incidentals.. where again no one much cared..

So... unlike what the anti gunners would have everyone believe...

No children ran crying in terror to their mother's bosom and, once the kid's questions were answered, they didn't think much about seeing a gun... and the parents didn't get all upset or anything either... they just thanked us for the help paying for their meal... and told us to have a blessed day.

So.. to the anti gunners intent on pushing their personal elitist fear based agenda intended to control everyone else... look at the real world response to an openly carried gun from actual ordinary everyday people (and.. gasp!... "the children"!) and weep because your "I want everyone to do what I think they should do" agenda just isn't working now is it?

Carried in Dick's Sporting Goods today to check out their .22 rifles and had no issues / complaints / screaming. Ended up grabbing a Ruger 10/22 Breakdown and a cheap-ish red dot. They also just happened to have ONE box of 325 rounds. Score.

Why did I have it in my head that rifles didn't require background checks? I was surprised when I had to fill out a 4473. I must be listening to that anti-gun garbage too much, all that "You can just walk into Walmart and buy a gun!" nonsense. Ah well, I came back clean, how about that...

[P.S. Stupid question 12 on that stupid form. Had me scratching out and initialing/dating.]

While OC'ing at Best Buy I spotted a lady pushing a cart across the parking lot, as she pasted in front of our car I noticed a semi-auto in a serpa holster. I saw where she was getting ready to load her box into her van and I stopped to say hello. She got a big smile on her face when I said that I was glad to see that I was not the only one OC'ing in the store.

She was the first person I have OC'ing in the Muskegon area besides myself.

We also went to Starbucks today and that place was packed. So much for the boycott! !

Today, while OC'ing, I went to Williams Gunsmithing on Cole Rd. near Saginaw to get a little work done on one of my black powder .44's ........ yeah, I screwed it up trying to "fix it".

Then Yooperlady and I went to Taco Bell in Clio and parked our Camaro next to a couple of brand new Corvettes.. and there were two more brand new 'Vettes parked off to the side making 4 of them all together. Once inside we did our usual leaving $5 for the next person in line and it turned out to be a lady who was one of the test drivers for those Corvettes. A nice conversation ensued where the lady was flabbergasted a couple of strangers would buy her lunch (yep, she saw my sidearm and it didn't slow her down one iota) and we learned she is part of a group from Warren who test drive cars.. lots of cars.. in real world conditions and then give the manufacturers their feedback. Talk about a great job!!!

Oh... and one of the other drivers of the Corvettes took a picture of our 2010 Camaro!!

Then off to the Dollar General store and the Dollar Cents store in Clio so Yooperlady could find a cheapy spray bottle....

Everyone we spoke with was very friendly and no where, from anyone, was there any hint of a negative response to my sidearm....

I spent most of Saturday at the Thompsonville airport. Benzie Area Radio Control club (BARC) put on a r/c airshow. I had a wonderful time.

Over one thousand people and hundreds of r/c airplanes. Most people didn't notice my OC sidearm. Those who noticed said nothing.

I don't usually comment on my OC experiences, but I just returned home from a week at the Silver Lake sand dunes, OCing everywhere I went. I did notice, however, that the Parkside Store http://www.parksidestore.com/home.html had posted a "Firearms not Permitted" sign in their front window. My wife blamed me, as she assumed they posted the sign because I OCed in there all the time. We usually would make our purchases there but I said that I would no longer patronize that establishment. Their loss, hopefully they don't find out the hard way. And yes, I did send them an email (snail mail to follow).

I have heard some say it might be good to send receipts or copy of receipts of purchases you would have made at the store that they forced you to go to other stores for. I love the Silver Lake area, great childhood memories.

OCed Best Buy Grandville. No issues. SM was looking at DVDs of the TV show 'Criminal Minds', to which I commented that it was the creepiest show on TV. Sales rep chimed in that she had watched it the other day, saying that it was creepy that someone thought it was OK to drive around with severed human heads in their trunk. I stated emphatically that it was NOT OK; you have to keep them refrigerated or they spoil.

She suddenly remembered some urgent business that needed her attention elsewhere....

OCed at the gas station on the way home that I always stop at. Run in to grab some drinks and as I'm paying he points to my right side and says "Hey, watch out, your f[inaudible] is falling out." Didn't really hear him, glance down and I see a five is peaking out of my pocket and had come up when I pulled my wallet out, right next to my firearm.

More concerned about me accidentally dropping some money than being in his store with a sidearm.
