don't understand how a hangun was injected into this story after the facts?

"The neighbor who called 911 about the open front door told Fox 4 the police officers didn’t announce who they were or knock on the door before searching the outside of the house.

“When I made that non-emergency call, I didn’t say it was a burglary. I didn’t say it was people fighting. I didn’t say anything to make them have a gun. All they needed to do is ring the doorbell,” James Smith said.

“They didn’t park up front, they parked on the side. They sent SRT, which is the special response team. They didn’t have a plainclothes officer to knock on that door,” activist and pastor Kyev Tatum told Fox 4."

FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A white police officer who killed a black woman inside her own home in Texas didn't have time to perceive a threat before shooting her, an attorney for the woman's family said.
"You didn't hear the officer shout, 'Gun, gun, gun,'" attorney Lee Merritt said after viewing video taken from a Fort Worth officer's bodycam during Saturday's shooting death of Atatiana Jefferson, 28. "He didn't have time to perceive a threat. That's murder."
Her family told KXAS television that Jefferson was watching her 8-year-old nephew when she was killed early Saturday while police checked on the home after a neighbor called a police non-emergency line to report that the front door was open.
The Fort Worth Police Department said in a statement that officers saw someone near a window inside the home and that one of them drew his duty weapon and fired after "perceiving a threat." The video released by police shows two officers searching the home from the outside with flashlights before one shouts, "Put your hands up, show me your hands." One shot is then fired through a window. The officer does not identify himself as police in the video.

imagine scenario's like this when ERPO is enacted. It will be SWAT coming knocking down your door, not just plain clothe LE.

The LEOs didn't know she had a gun in the house when they violated her liberties and killed her, it was mentioned after the facts and injected into their narratives and stories, so they can be protected under QI, at the same time to create a picture that GUNS+BAD=DEAD.

No pauses between: Put your hands up show me your hands bang. All in one and a half seconds.

Me think cop gets death penalty. This is why qualified immunity has to go.
Cop may get a prison sentence...unlikely is the best guess at this point. Gun in the house and the cop shop will side with the cop's affirmative defense that he was fearing for his safety...tough to overcome this claim.

The length of time to gain compliance prior to discharging his service weapon is irrelevant...cops get dead by waiting...don'tcha know...tragic event, no winners on this one...that cop will have to live with his actions for the rest of his life...he is the real victim...don'tcha know...ask any cop...

Just in...AP:
FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A police officer who shot and killed a black woman in her home in the presence of her 8-year-old nephew acted inappropriately and has resigned, the chief of police said Monday, after Atatiana Jefferson's surviving family called for the man to be fired and charged.

The Fort Worth Police Department said officers responded about 2:25 a.m. Saturday after a neighbor called a non-emergency line to report Jefferson's front door had been left open. The responding officer fired a shot through a window, killing the 28-year-old woman.

"Why this man is not in handcuffs is a source of continued agitation for this family and for this community," family attorney Lee Merritt said at a news conference in Dallas on Monday.

Interim Police Chief Ed Kraus said at separate news conference Monday that the officer, Aaron Dean, has resigned. He said if Dean had not stepped down, he would have been fired.

Nobody looked at this video and said that there's any doubt that this officer acted inappropriately," Kraus said.

"I feel like we had some failures here," Fort Worth Police Officers Association President Sgt. Manny Ramirez told reporters after the news conference. "It never should have happened." [really]

He's out on $200,000 bond.

Average Bail Amounts for Felony Crimes

How much is bail for murder?
There is no bail for murder under certain circumstances. Other murder arrests have a $1 million dollar bail that is typically set. Such cases are reviewed closely and can vary in amount due to the threat risk the person possesses if they were to make bail. Accessory to murder in the 1st degree has a $500,000 bail amount while 2nd degree is set to $250,000.

He will get away with it. His possible prison term pales in comparison to he killing Atatiana Jefferson. The real justice meted out will be a huge tax payer funded, court ordered, civil penalty levied on that cop shop and the cop....NO SETTLEMENT!!!

...uh, reality check....once they show the surviving family members the money a settlement will be reached and all will revert back to business as usual...until the next "outrage."

"During Monday’s press conference, Fort Worth Mayor Betsy Price said that displaying the gun in the bodycam footage was unnecessary.
“The images released showing the gun inside Ms. Jefferson’s home… the gun was irrelevant,” Price said. “She was in her own home caring for her 8-year-old nephew.”

Kraus agreed that in hindsight, showing the weapon in the bodycam footage video was the wrong thing to do. He said they will review why they added that to the footage and when it is and is not appropriate."

Glad a few news outlet redacted the facts.4

My prediction for this LEO will be, 10 yrs. sentence, 5 yrs...@ the little house (3.5 yrs. with good behavior) and 5 yrs. probation.

A witness, the woman’s 8-year-old nephew, told a forensic interviewer that after Atatiana Jefferson heard noises outside their home and thought there might be a prowler in the back yard, she reached into her purse, grabbed a handgun and pointed it toward the window, the warrant said.

It is also possible that the shock of seeing his aunt killed burned that memory into his memory. I find it difficult to believe a child that age would have the guile to fabricate a story and is telling the truth.

Alas, that childhood trauma memory may be gone forever as a real episode memory is supplanted with new memories From prosecutors & defence team investigatory[ies] try to ‘get the facts’ about what his aunt was doing, how/where she was pointing the firearm, etc.

children wish to want to “please” their interrogators and interrogators may “innocently” coerce the child with kindness/treats/promises to tell their tale of traumatic event a certain way thus a child is prone to suggestibility based on their limited cognitive encoding/recall skills.
