The ordinance summitted to the fiscal court was, to say the least, a bit lacking. It included two mentions of "concealed or otherwise" and still included the same enforcement section of the previous ordinance. Basically the same exact ordinance. Naturally I pointed this out. My proposal to just repeal to ordinance fell mostly on deaf ears (The Judge/Exectutive and his staff admitted that they at least wanted it).

So it was passed (1st reading) under the agreement that "or otherwise" was struck twice and the Sheriff was informed (in the meeting) that his only "anything in their power to enforce this ordinance" was to ask the person to leave or to show his/her weapon.

I don't really think my county government are all playing on the same team anymore. The tension is noticeable.

If they will not fix it and come in-line with KRS 65.870 and 237.115 then they are still in violation of the law and can be sued for being so.

KRS 237.115 specifically says that the provisions of section 2 of the statute will not be deemed a violation of KRS 65.870 IF the requirements of that section are followed. The county is NOT following the requirements of the section.

They MUST have exemptions for several different locations specifically stated in the ordinance.

KRS 237.115 specifically states no criminal penalty can be attached for violation of the ordinance, but it can state that people who carry a concealed weapon can be asked to leave the premises or denied entry. Again, the county is NOT following the requirements.

They will have to have no "concealed" weapons signs manufactured and placed at every entrance.
I would venture to guess they have yet to do this.

Has this been posted in the Levisa-Lazer or some other county publication as required by law?

Is this really a surprise to us? I say they have enough rope and if they choose to hang themselves with it, so be it.** Gutshot once said that it wasn't our job to save these people from their own stupidty(or something like that:p) and I think this is a prime example of that.

**To Lawrence County officials that are reading this comment: The hanging yourself with a rope is a figure of speech and not a threat. I point this out only because you folks seem to have a hard time comprehending whats what.
