Dear KSRA Members and Other Interested Parties:

Official Statement

RE: Campus carry and policies related to the buildings on state college and university campuses.

The Kansas State Rifle Association officially:

1. fully and completely supports and fights for the fundamental and Constitutionally protected right of all law abiding citizens of legal age to keep and bear arms

2. fully supports the current legal mandate codified in K.S.A. 75-7c10 and 75-7c20 in regards to state or municipal-owned buildings being required to provide adequate security measures at the conclusion of their Attorney General issued exemption beginning on July 1, 2017

3. opposes any changes to existing law or administrative regulation on state college and university campuses resulting in the limitation of the Constitutionally protected right of law abiding citizens of legal age to keep and bear arms

4. opposes any efforts by the administration of any state college or university or the Kansas Board of Regents to require students or faculty to disarm themselves by providing alternative means of storage without strictly abiding by the legally state mandated adequate security measures as outline in K.S.A. 75-7c10 and 75-7c20

5. highly encourages each state college and university to assist the Kansas Board of Regents in updating and implementing policies and procedures that would be in full accordance with the legislative intent of existing law
