At the Open Carry Munch yesterday, at the Hi Joy Bowl, nice older couple commented on the wife's carry and were interested in what caliber and what brand.

Oh darn I'm sorry for missing it, I had to work a day shift yesterday and couldn't come, although I wasn't there last month either. I'll have to start paying attention to the forum again.

I was in the Poulsbo Walmart today around 5:30 pm and saw someone open carrying. I was going to go up and say hi but the person was on the other side of the store and gone before I could catch up. Not sure if it was one of us from the forum but either way it is always good to see other people open carry

I am a big guy and I know that I print hard most of the time I carry but until tonight, it had never been brought up. While unloading my cart tonight, the young women checking me out thanked me for carrying. This caught me kinda off guard, but a pleasant conversation started and the women was very polite and expressed her desire top carry when able, etc... Good stuff, nice encounter.

welcome to the forum and congrats on your positive encounter...

now you are sure the young lady was checking out your firearm and not using it as an excuse to start a conversation to get to know you better? (j/k)

either way, this is one of the main reasons i OC...public awareness ~ i should be so lucky to have it be a young lady check me out...it is normally the olde pharts or middle aged men which chips on their shoulders...

From the scanner: Didn't hear which WalMart in Kitsap, but someone called the cops on an open carrier at 8pm tonight. Orange hoodie, handgun on belt with the hammer cocked back.

Had a great while open carrying. My day started out by open carrying my M&P Shield to King's Wok Buffet in Silverdale around 2pm. I had a few long looks inside the buffet but no problems. After lunch I went back home and got some things done around the house. But first stopped by Central Market in Poulsbo. It has been a while since I open carried in Central Market but again I had no problems

I took a dive out to Bull's Eye in Tacoma around 7:30-8:00pm. I stayed and shoot until closing at 9. After leaving Bull's Eye I stopped by Krispy Kreme near the Tacoma Mall. It was my first visit to Krispy Kreme and I was not sure what to expect. I had maybe a look or two from a few little kids but no problems.

Overall it was a full day of open carry in Kitsap and Price County with multiple stops and zero problems

From the Scanner:

1926: Witness fled That One Place restaurant because someone has a gun in their pocket. Witness fled to Rite Aid and asked someone to call police. Currently three units responding, at least one is running code.

1929: Units arriving.

1930: Cop reports business as usual looking through the window.

1931: Cop interviews the fleeing party hiding in Rite Aid... description... no brandishing

1932: Cop talks to employee of the restaurant, male had left, no issues.

1933: No issues here. Over.

OMG!!! It must have been one of those evil high capacity 1911's

Once in a while I get the Do you know your hammer is cocked? question.

Yep.

Is that a 1911?

Nope, a Sig.

Is that safe?

Yes, it's a Single action only 226 (actual, real, kinda high capacity)

Then it's either, what's a SAO, or why would anybody carry a SAO. I can't count the number of people that think a SAO is SAO for every shot, like a Ruger Blackhawk I guess?

They seem to be taking flak from some people for not reporting if the police contacted them, one commenter accused the newspaper of "shaming" the 911 caller(s)

Given that someone walking around completely peacefully with a gun securely in its holster is about as illegal as walking around wearing pants or while in possession of keys, a little shaming might be in order.

It's been awhile since this has happened

My wife and I were having dinner at the China Sun Buffet on Bethel road in Port Orchard last night. I was filling my plate when a lady approached and said, "May I ask you a question?"

Assuming it was about my handgun I replied, "Sure."

"Are you in law enforcement?"

"No, just a law abiding citizen," and walked back to my table.

I know I missed an opportunity to educate her on open carry. Sorry. Normally I would, but I was tired, hungry, and my wife was waiting for me to return to our table.

That's a great place to eat, by the way. Delicious food, wide variety of selections, and friendly to open carry. We had an open carry meet there several years ago.
