OC in Port Orchard,Wa.

Just ran into town to do some last minute shopping.Went to Pet Smart,McDonalds (inside),Cigar store and Albertsons in Purdy. No problems in any of them ,maybe a glance or two but thats it.Then I went to Radio Shack on Bethel in Port Orchard.Lots of stares and frowns but after about 10 minutes people relaxed even a smile or two. Also Fred Meyer no issues.

Was in Bremerton today

A friend and I rode the ferry from Seattle to Bremerton today. Getting on the ferry on the Seattle side was the hard part. The ticket lady did not know if OC was legal on the Ferry. She had to call the captain and a state patrol officer to figure out that OC on the ferry is legal.

The ferry ride was nice the sky was too hazy to call it a clear day though.

I had never been to Bremerton on foot before so walking around was new. We walked over a hill and found the local court house and watch a cop car disappear behind the court house. While coming down we walked passed the court house we were ambushed by a cop. He starts on about how he is the biggest second amendment supporter, etc. Then he gets into the whole we've had a couple of calls come in and I wanted to make sure you were not any known bad guys, do you mind if I ask you a couple of questions?

My response was, "Am I free to go?"
His response was, "Yes."

I asked him the safest way to navigate the intersection, he told us, and we left. My friend told him, "Thanks." Then my friend told me that I should have seen the look on the cop's face when I asked him if I was free to go and then processed to leave. I did note that a second, cop, car had appeared from the direction we had been walking from.

Had lunch at the sushi/teriyaki place that looks like it was a gas station at one time. They had good food there.
After lunch we made it back to Seattle and to Federal Way with out any further police encounter.

There are the people who give discussed looks when they see another citizen openly carrying.

First Bad Encounter .. Applebee's

Hello folks this is my first post ( I will post in the welcome section later tonight) but I was so pissed at this I had to post here first.

Applebee's in Silverdale is not OC or gun friendly in anyway.

My experience goes as such...

Entered the restaurant about 6:30 pm on the 21st of Dec. to have dinner with my wife. It had warmed up so earlier in the day I had removed my jacket exposing the shoulder holster with no issues at any of the other 14 locations I had visited that day in the last minute Christmas rush. Now understand I have OC'd in Applebee's once before but it was on the hip so I will say not as pronounced as the shoulder. I was standing to the right of the door where it rises up to the seating section and had even passed through that section to go use the little boys room. I was looking around after standing there for 20 minutes when I heard a customer ask his waiter if OC was allowed in Washington State. Not if they were allowed in the restaurant, not "hey he has a gun", not "hey he is making me uncomfortable", nothing but a simple question about state law. Next thing I know I'm being asked to leave that they have a company policy that firearms are not allowed in their restaurant. I asked where is the sign and the only sign they could find is the one required by the state around the bar section, I asked to see it in writing that too could not be produced. I also asked what about the other gun carrying folks already in the dining area was he gonna ask them to leave too ( I had seen and identified at least 2 that were concealed while waiting and even spoken with one until he got seated). The manager said that there are no firearms allowed so I had too leave basically skirting my question. When asked why it took 20 minutes for them to inform me of this rule when any number of wait staff and even he himself had passed me a number of times he just started getting huffy and said I needed to leave. Understand I had moved this to a location where only a few in the lobby could over hear and was not creating a scene in the middle of their restaurant and was being civil as could be and just wanted my questions answered.

So after leaving I had a really wonderful dinner at Olive Garden with no problems even asked the manager before being seated if it was going to be an issue and explained what had happened at Applebee's. He said no and even fast tracked a table for me to make up for my bad experience even though his establishment wasn't involved.

So fast forward until after Christmas and after a e-mail sent to their crop office about my experience.

On the 27th I get a call from the manager that asked me to leave saying that if I thought he was rude that he was sorry and that the only sign that they did have posted was the state required one and that it was not written in their policy but he had been trained that way. He also informed me that their relations officer at their franchise said it is a company policy but no more information than that.

So off goes a second e-mail to corp asking if it was their company policy allowing franchise owners to decide which state or federal laws they will follow or if they can pick and choose based upon their own personal choices of beliefs. Still no response, but it got me to thinking I might look into opening a Applebee's since I'm not wild about the way kids dress today or people with brightly dyed hair and I can decide on my own whim as an owner to not allow them in (not that I ever would discriminate that way).....

Went over to Bainbridge island to sell my kahr. Had a good conversation with the new owner about open carry. I had my wife and little one with me so on the ferry ride back we got out and strolled around. Nothing was said although I believe one last took my picture as I was sitting down eating lunch (the food isn't worth it...)uploadfromtaptalk1357031228041.jpg

Chase bank at Fred Meyer in Port Orchard

I stopped in the bank yesterday and took care of some banking needs. And as I turned to leave someone that was setting at one of the desks told me thank you for protecting the people around us. He said he thinks everyone should carry, He said he does but he CC's .I won't mention any names but he does work for A local bullet manufacturer. and invited me down for A tour.So I see A tour in my future.

First timer post..

Greetings all, I have always CCed but lately with all the negative press on guns Ive started OCing. In all my daily travels I have yet to recieve a negative comment, infact it has been ovewhelmingly positive. I was in the Homemade Cafe on Cline St. in Port Orchard and the mayor made eye contact and a smile/nod. 5 minutes later a woman who I met a week prior tapped me on my shoulder from behind and said she loves that I wear my gun openly. Last week while browsing in St. Vincent's I was approached by an employee and told I had to leave or put the firearm in my car, I knew that they must have a "Policy" but didnt see it when I entered, I asked if there was a posting and they showed me a tiny little sign that wasnt visible as you enter. I recommended an obvious solution. Im sure that ive inspired a handful of friends to OC and made some aware of the right that were otherwise unaware. It feels great. See yall Saturday..

The Mayor, Tim Matthes, is not only a 2A supporter, he OC's as well. When I put together the 1st OC meet in Port Orchard a few years back, one of the first OCers there was Tim. He fought alongside Ajetpilot to remove the no guns sign from the county Admin building. He is a friend to all of us.

Haven't been open carrying much myself, usually have a heavy jacket on since it is effing cold out, but I wanted to say that a few days ago I saw a unicorn at the port orchard walmart. I went to look at ammo ( which they are always out of now) and I saw a guy looking at camping stuff. I'm a more shy guy so I didn't start up a conversation, but just want to report we are still out there. Lol

Also, went out to the pit by mason lake last weekend. It was literally freezing the entire time I was there but I got to put a few hundred rounds down range. It looks like someone tried to block access with some stumps. No idea who but there's was enough space to get between the stumps. Wound up leaving right as someone else got there.

I had just about given up on that Pit opening up again, the last time I shot there, was in early July. Best recollection is the stumps went up in late July / early August. with a sign stating they were spraying chemicals, weeks later, the stumps remained and the sign changed to closed due to fire hazard. Even after weeks of rain, the stumps remained. After many aborted attempt to go there, I have been heading to Quilcene to shoot.

One of the stumps has been moved out of the way and I didn't see any signs there. I'd try again sometime. I'm probably going sometime this weekend if I get the replacement mag spring for my 22lr. Need to go out plinking more.
