So last night i decided to OC to walmart for my shopping needs (i was starving) and wearing shorts/my usual long sleeve shirt rolled up sleeves untucked, galco OWB leather holster and hand on the door... I found myself uncomfortable.
I then realized that the holster doesnt fit my normal dressing attire. Im big and tall as you would say so finding shirts that fit wide shoulders and tall torso is tough. You either compromise on having a tent to wear for it to be long enough to tuck in or just short enough not to but comfortable everywhere else. I dont tuck my shirts in, i like the casual feel of it. The holster i have for the H&K is a side hugging ride high on the belt galco that works and has its purpose, say if i were wearing a suit etc... in this case i need something that will work with how i dress, draw distance (long arms, ape index of 1) thus being 6' tall i have a 6' spread and trying to get my branch grabbers up that high to the waist to retrieve the boomstick from its tight confines is a burden and tactically is not wise. I might as well be drawing from my armpit...
Thus after hours of research i have found the following style of holster. The OWB drop duty holster.

It hangs off the belt, lower than sitting mid belt like other holsters so my shirt can ride above it in a OC manner fully exposed. This brand has a level 2 retention and will fit my obscure choice of weapon. H&K .45 USP fullsize. also it tilts it out just a touch for a more positive retrieval of said boomstick. this is a compromise between a ride high hip holster and a drop leg tac holster that would look like an urban commando trying to prove he is a small penis wally world tac god. (i do like the drop leg holsters but they have their place)
I realized that my mental barrier preventing me from being confortable to OC are these facts. I need to be comfortable in everything i do in my life from how i dress, eat, interact with the general public also including how i wear my sidearm. To be uncomfortable with how your sidearm sits on your person will inhibit you from properly learning exacting technique on drawing when needed (through safe practice) and being confident in the fact that you carry.
Once the proper holster is obtained i will then be more comfortable to do my civic duty and uphold the second amendment, because damnit i dont want to lose it. I am fully trained and experienced to protect the safety of myself, my property and others lives and property as well. I must be able to do this with exacting measure, speed and confidence as a life will depend on it. A good combination of a holster, pistol and mind is the best bet to achieve this goal.
