The politicians certainly seem to think so, with the killing of a cop being treated as a much greater evil than the killing of a non-cop by the [in]justice system. The presstitutes of the mainstream media certainly seem to think so, since they shriek with rage whenever one or a few cops are killed, and usually completely ignore incidents wherein peaceful people are murdered in cold blood by cops. The following article elaborates on the latter point: http://theantimedia.org/cop-killers...tive-shows-hypocrisy-in-government-and-media/

Not conclusive or anything but look at the reaction of California police officers to Chris Dorner's shooting of an officer that was the largest manhunt in LAPD history and left the vehicles of two innocent citizens riddled with bullets.

Or, for that matter the reaction in Boston, Mass when the Tsarnaev brothers killed a MIT police officer and and MBTA officer was injured. The reaction was unprecedented; literally thousands of police officers cordoned off a twenty block area of Watertown and held citizens at the point of automatic weapons as their houses were searched without probable cause or warrant.

But, our lives are equal in the eyes of the law, right? ... right?

The Chris dorner thing I can't speak for. I agree that was over the top.

But umm.... Your leaving out a piece of the tsarnaev brothers. I don't know something about ******* bombs blowing up in a crowd of civilians? Maybe THATS why there was a manhunt? Naaahhhh can't be it.

Primus, why is killing a cop treated as much worse than killing a non-cop by both the [in]justice system and the mainstream media?

Do you think that your life is worth more than the lives of non-cops?

Not remotely. Hence the reason I go to work every day and wear a vest. Not if, but when , the d bag decides to start shooting citizens I get to go get them. On the regular when the d bag with a gun or knife (or any other mirade or weapons) is threatening or harming someone I gladly go TOWARDS them. Even with that supposed court ruling saying I can run the other way like all the other citizens... I do it because I choose to. I enjoy it. Those lives of "non-cops" are worth it to me. No one forces me to and I could easily quit tomorrow and be an accountant, but I won't. Just like firefighters go towards fire and EMTs for towards Ebola virus (screw that).

For the record no life is worth "more", but I would definitely favor a citizens over my own. Difference is I'm willing to GIVE my life for any citizen while the d bag on the other side is TAKING lives of citizens. People who truly know me, know for fact that's the God's honest truth and they think I'm a complete idiot for being like that. Oh well. :D

Note: the term "citizen" above does NOT apply to dudes with guns pointed at me or in my direction. Those are d bags.

Why do so many cops run the other way, cower behind their cars, and browbeat non-cops with "The end-all be-all of our existence is to collect your tax money in the form of our paychecks, and to go home safely at the end of our shifts."?

lol no idea. Ask them. I cannot and will not speak for anyone other then myself.

But remember this... cops are just citizens too, that have no "legal duty... blah blah blah..." and they are NOT Gods, nor are they "worth" more then non-cops. So why are you upset when they "run the other way, cower behind their cars....." just like every other citizen does? They aren't paid to Die.

I thought that you're part of some brotherhood wherein every member fights tooth-and-nail to support every other member, regardless of whether that other member is in the right.

lmao That shows how little you know about the "brotherhood". It's one of the biggest purported myths going. There is no secret decoder ring, is no secret handshake, or anything else. That myth is especially held up by haters. It's easier to hate a united front if you believe they are all the same. Cops stick up for other cops just like hosejockies do for other jockies and other docs do for other docs. Unless you've been in a house fire you don't know the job, been covered in blood and pumping on a chest (docs), or driving as fast as you can towards gun shots, etc. etc. They are unique occupations as are some other fields. So if you bad mouth cops in GENERAL of course I'll stick up for them. Bad mouth a hose jocky and maybe not so much :D. But show me a cop that beat his wife, he's a ****** bag. A cop who CLEARLY shot an innocent, also a d bag. etc. etc.

Isn't this happening in PA right now too?

I quite distinctly remember the Centennial Park bombing in 1996, I don't remember any house to house searches or cordoned off blocks of downtown Atlanta. But no law enforcement officers were killed in the explosion.

I remember the Sikh temple shooting in Wisconsin. I don't remember any massive manhunt response, but I don't remember any law enforcement officers being shot.

I remember Waco TX, where after a thoroughly botched, and unnecessary raid by the ATF where casualties on both sides occurred, seventy-six American citizens, men, women and children, were killed and their compound razed and bulldozed into the earth.
