Been away too long. Got really busy and something strange happened to my "user" id / pswd and couldn't log in. Then I didn't have time to deal with it.

So, in the interim, I've been put on the "disabled" list at the Virginia State Bar - they gave me a special membership card that says so. That's a classification that really means, "retired". But the VSB is like the mafia - you can't actually just quit - you can retire, but only if you're over 70, unless you're disabled. And the autoimmune disorder has gotten bad enough that I can't promise that I can show up for court on any particular day, and can't promise that I can help someone protect his liberty and property as I once did. So that's the news.

One thing this means is that I am no longer licensed to give legal advice or practice law. I'm still a lawyer (one who has a degree from a law school), and technically still an "attorney in good standing", but none of that means anything now. So if I spout off or pontificate on subjects touching law, evidence and procedure, please note that it's just my personal opinion, and worth what you've paid for it.

I do plan to spend more time on public education, now that I'm no longer pressured by court mandated schedules. Not sure just yet how I'm going to do that, but I'll let you know.

Like loosing your medical license for the act of moral turpitude by defining moral turpitude as failure to file and pay taxes.

My little experience with medical boards and bar associations are that they are criminal protection organizations. Protect their friends at ALL costs.

My attorney friend had to go the appeals court twice over two attorneys who had been disbarred, yet the local court kept protecting their actions.

My attorney friend is 70 years old and is about to hang it up due to all the dishonesty in the profession.

Welcome back. You're the voice of the 4th Amendment that is all too often missing when it comes to 2A issues.

I am very sorry to hear about your health issues, but I'm glad to see you're still kicking.

When my kids were stationed in VA, I gave them your number and told them to add it to their favorites.

Personally, having his smile gracing the site is sufficient!

Glad to have you back.

We should have an area get together soon.... look for it "coming soon".

Big B's barbecue

Equally inconvenient to Warrenton, Richmond, F'burg, C'ville, Waynesboro and Greene Co.?

please make it NOT on a 'school night' or at least early for those of us that have to be in work before office folks' alarms even go off.

I do have a tale to tell you that raised a laugh or two when I told a few people at our last Richmond dinner.
