I've not the time to log my OC experiences, but I will log unusual encounters or places that I see others are reluctant to venture.

Was noticed by everyone in Diamond furniture on rt 40, the salesman was best with a quick "You don't need a gun to get a good deal here"! another one commented on my "Heater".

went to Christiana mall and spent 25 minutes walking around this afternoon. no comments, several gangsta types checking it out, no doubt trying to decide what kind (1911) it is.

In Best buy I passed a DSP, we both nodded, but I'm not sure he noticed?

You sure they weren't trying to figure out how to relieve you of it?

This is a concern I have when I am near a group of "punks" like that....

I stopped in to get my hair cut at Hot Locks in Smyrna. I am slightly known there by theowner, she knows what my business is, but has not seen me open carry before. After the haircut as I was paying, she asked me if I was doing something on the side. Of course I played dumb (no stretch) and said “No, why do you ask?” she said “I thought maybe you were doing some security because you are carrying a gun” so I said “I am carrying it because I’m a free citizen, we all have to be prepared to protect ourselves”

the consensus of the three ladies there was that carrying a gun is a good thing and more people should do it.:what:While I have yet to meet a LE that I’m sure has seen my OC, I continue to get good feedback from the people I meet. Most people don’t notice, ignore it, or politely inquire. The most negative thing I’ve heard was “I sure hope you’re a cop” to which I replied “Nope, just a citizen” and kept walking.:)

That's awesome that three females would come to that conclusion. It's great to hear that there's hope for everyone out there.

My response to the “I sure hope you’re a cop” comment would have been: "No, why? Do you need one right now? There's probably one only 10 minutes away."

Stopped by the building managers office today to let him know someone's been leaving the side door unlocked late at night. there was new guy in there. I saw him look down at my s/s 1911 twice, and every time my eyes returned to him I would catch his eyes coming up. seeing as I was in an authorized personnel only area and he didn't know me, I finally had some mercy on him and introduced myself. he didn't say anything either way but did look a little less nervous.

The CompUSA on 202 is going out of business and I noticed they have some flip video recorders marked down. if they still have any on Monday I think I'll pick up one. (if I haven't talked myself out of it by then.) should be much better than a voice recorder. BTW they haven't said anything in the 5-6 times I've OC there

DSP encounter è good

I stopped for gas this morning and pulled directly in front of a unmarked chevy SUV with two of Delaware’s finest in it. Before getting out to pump gas I made sure my heater was positioned right. It wasn't! the Bersa was in my pocket and the 1911 was in the glove box. I quickly fixed that and then got out and started pumping. While the gas was pumping I turned to the officer who was standing next to the truck:

Me: that sure is sweet; we don't have a chance seeing you in that.

DSP:yep, it rides real nice.

DSP: whoyou with?

ME: no-one

DSP: uh-huh, (nods his head to my right hip) “your hammers back”

Me: yes, cocked and locked 1911.

DSP:OK

Gas pump clicked and I turned to remove it and place my fuel cap on.

Me: have a nice day

DSP: you too.

Good encounter, but I'm not much for conversation. Hope they all go like that.

That's awesome. I hope my first LEO encounter goes as smoothly and friendly.

I'm not much on conversation either, esp w/ DSP (only because they were the ones who told me "we just arrest - we don't interpret the laws" when talking w/ them on the phone).

Sounds like a smooth encounter with a LEO.

Don't bother going to Compusa, went there a week ago and the place was 95% empty. Had only seen the going out of business a few days before that and was surprised that the place was near empty. Doubt there's much of anything there by now.:uhoh:
