So about 3 weekends ago I was in Idaho City with the family getting ice cream and visiting the various stores. We happened to go as far as the Miners Exchange building at the North end. As it houses various county offices it was closed. I noticed a sign at the entryway: "All persons entering a county building are prohibited from carrying or having any firearm, explosive or any other deadly or dangerous weapon inside any county building."

As this statement is incorrect I sent an email to the county clerk asking that it be removed or modified to remove the firearms portion due to preemption. Her reply was basically that they conduct courthouse jury selection there once in a while so it is actually a courthouse and they were not going to change or remove.. Interestingly the courthouse has the same sign stating "courthouse" where "county building" is incorrectly stated on the Miners Exchange sign.

I have contacted Idaho Second Amendment Alliance on the matter. Will update as it progresses.

ISAA said they have previously been notified of this and it is on the "Radar". Apparently not a priority yet.

The county refuses to change or remove even tho the statement is completely false.

My email that I sent to the Boise County Prosecuting Atty.

"Hello Mr. Blocksom,

I'm emailing in regards to a sign in the window of the Minors Exchange county building. I believe Mary cc'd you one of my earlier correspondences.

The sign states:" All persons entering a county building are prohibited from carrying or having any firearm, explosive or any other deadly or dangerous weapon inside any county building."

As a Boise County property owner I would appreciate your opinion regarding if the statement on the sign, as it currently reads with no other interpretation or use of the building in which it resides , is a legal statement.

Thank you very much! I appreciate all that you and all the Boise County officials and employees do for us!

Will let you know what I get for a response.

Received an email from him stating he would look into ir. He asked if I had done any research that he could look at. I gave him a link to 18-3302J.

Hadn't heard anything from him so sent an email asking if my spam filter may have deleted any of his replies. His response:

"Hello sir!

Thank you for checking. The sign is down for now, and will be modified.

Best,
Dan"

Indeed! Excellent work. I am astonished that the county prosecutor replied given that he is the lawyer for the government and not the people.
