When I read this post of yours I took it as a joke, who in their right mind could actually accept this as fact, Oh Hey I Stopped A Rape Because I Was Here and no evidence of a crime was about to or did occur.

Well fire away prove with facts you prevented any crime while open carrying, I would love to be able to cite it.

While many would like to accept the statement that open carry stops crime, there is no more proof of supporting that then one could say that just ones presence deterred a crime.
Is there a possibility open carrying may avoid someone committing a crime? maybe but your statement as to you stopped several robberies and a rape tonight is telling a fairy tale.

The only way one could substantiate a claim of stopping a crime just by open carrying and your presence is in actually doing just that, stop a crime in progress.

There are far more who are not noticed carrying openly then there are those that have encounters. Unfortunately there are many of those encounters are just by a few who can be viewed as looking for attention, making up encounters to a hand full of legitimate cold encounters.

It comes down to while we are legally armed and each of us will make that choice at that point in time to intervene in incident being it physical force or deadly force.

It is far more important to be prepared and carrying daily then it is to fill our egos that just by being there we are stopping societies troubled.

I love seeing these logical equivalents of the old ethnic joke about about hand grenades. The (whoever) had our position surrounded and simultaneously threw 10 grenades into our foxhole. We just pulled the pins and threw the grenades back to them.

I was able to ward off a robbery and a car jacking today myself.

But the POINT of the whole thread is NOT to say I did anything superhuman......

It is to point out that we can use the same convoluted and moronic way of looking at things that the anti's use.

You CAUSED 5 robberies, 2 rapes and a murder on that same night...

When the first criminal saw you carrying he decided to look elsewhere for a target, he saw a woman in a phonebooth and unfortunately decided to rob, rape and beat her.

A small group of thugs saw you open carrying and after deciding that you were trying to intimidate them, they decided to go take it out on a couple white guys walking down the street, both men robbed and beaten to within an inch of their lives.

The first criminal decided that tonight was his lucky night. He robs another woman that night, decides to rape and murder another one.... He was just going to take your wallet originally. If you had just given it to him, there would be one less death and 4 less victims.

You caused people to be beaten raped and murdered tonight by open carrying a firearm.

PROVE....ME......WRONG!!!!

The OP wasn't really attempting to use real logic. He was making fun of others' use of illogic by applying it to his own circumstance, with a very different (and amusing) result.
