Figured i would do a "hello my name is" since i dont see a new member section. Anyways, Im Randy, been shooting since i was about 5, ARMY veteran, and want to shoot more but finding places is tough and not close by to where i live. I will research more on this. I currently have a CHP and will start carrying once i sight in my taurus (no use in carrying if it cant hit the target). I also have a H&K .45 USP that i open carry when in the woods, but would need a good drop leg holster for everywhere else as i dont wear my shirt tucked in, and my arms are long...

Anyways i look forward to meeting some of you in person, and get out and shooting more! I am also on 68forums for my rifle under same name so if you see me there thats me.

Okay... you want to find places to go shoot, that's understandable.
But if you're on 68 forums, when do you find time to go? I mean... I can barely manage one or two!

Welcome to the Colorado contingent of OCDO!

About as often as mimes get shot with a silencer.

All seriousness aside, they occur with about the same regularity as we gentlemen volunteer for a colonoscopy.

About as often as somebody gets the ambition to arrange for one to happen.

While I have two scheduled for the 23rd, somebody else might decide to throw another. I anticipate the next ones I host will be like Castle Rock and Fort Collins area.
I'd also like to determine whether we have any interest down toward Pueblo, Walsenburg, etc. Not that I don't mind driving 100+ miles to be the only one shows up, but meeting others along the way tends to brighten the mood considerable.

I am trying to do something in the arena of outreach to folks who are far flung and in distant places, such as Alamosa and Grand Junction, both of which I have visited this spring.

So just keep an eye on this here forum, and somebody could come along at any minute to schedule another in Colorado Springs or the metro area to the north.

What part of the state are you in?

Blessings,
M-Taliesin

Welcome! I'm still a relative newbie myself. Where are you located? I know of a few public places I've been digging around finding.

Welcome to the forums! I've been searching for a place to shoot too up north. We spend a lot of time up in Hudson during the weekends and so far I've heard of the Pawnee Grasslands and I might go check it out one of these days and see how it is. Other than that, the only other places I can think of are the National Forests to the west. I know there used to be a range in the NF by Left Hand Canyon, not sure if its still there. Let me know if you want to meet up for coffee in your area sometime!

im up by brighton, north of denver 30 miles.

Howdy Pard!
No big deal. Really. I drive to work every day in Brighton, then home again. So does my wife. And we each take our own car because of the wide difference in our working hours at our respective jobs. We consider the whole thing routine.

But 30 miles? Unless you're about 10 miles north of Brighton, that doesn't sound right. We know it is 18 miles from our place in Aurora to the Sheriff's Office/Detention Center. 30 miles seems a bit long, but then again, it would depend on what part of Denver you're talking about, compared to what part of Brighton you're coming from.

In any event, you can pretty well live in Aurora, as we do, and drive across town 30 miles worth, without leaving the Denver metro area!

Don't let a little distance hold you back!

In the meanwhile, I'd be happy to meet up with you, 1 on 1 or with significant others in tow, up in Brighton.
Take your pick of a venue, and we can make that happen.
There's only one eatery I'd avoid up there, so so long as it doesn't begin with the letter "P", and sit right next to the railroad tracks!

Blessings,

Just to let you know before someone drives all the way there, Left hand shooting is closed, and not just the normal places but the whole area.. the republic of boulder got their wish.

Thanks for clarifying that. That is a real drag.
