Oh my gosh people carry guns at state fairs!

How do so few many people realize that this level of hand wringing not be embraced by so many people. This is like learning about spiders from an arachnophobia.

The City of Dallas is not barring any form of carry in this instance. The city has leased to property to a private business. It is this business/venue that is doing the restricting.

Neither is the State Fair organization.

No matter how hard he tries to ignore it, our NC authority on Texas law can't avoid this from his own link to the rules:

"A person holding a valid Texas License to Carry a Handgun (LTC), or a valid concealed handgun license from a reciprocating state, is permitted to enter the Fair with his or her concealed handgun, provided that he or she thereafter fully complies with all applicable laws. LTC holders are responsible for knowing and complying with all applicable Texas laws."

Just like when you rent a house, you may restrict/control what goes on there.

If you have information to the contrary, please post it with a link.
The lessee cannot gain any rights the lessor does not have.

Texas Penal Code sections 30.06 and 30.07 (trespass by a license holder with a concealed/openly carried handgun, respectively) both contain this exception:

(e) It is an exception to the application of this section that the property on which the license holder carries a handgun is owned or leased by a governmental entity and is not a premises or other place on which the license holder is prohibited from carrying the handgun under Section 46.03 or 46.035.

Fair Park is owned by the City of Dallas, and no 30.06 or 30.07 notice is legally valid.

let’s see KB, how did you state it?

quote: ...our NC authority on Texas law...unquote

hummm, guess that makes you the “...state of mind” of the lonestar’s understanding of the nuance(s) of their statutes, including state admistrative governance codes, where you just summarily dismissed, is what is posted on the website about no weapons allowed and further, as grape kindly pointed out, is while the city of Dallas owns the property the state fair is held on, the property is leased out to private entity (the state fair of Texas a 501c non profit) to facilitate the organization, admistration, as well as operation of the fair. https://bigtex.com/about/financialhighlights/

further, the inital thrust of my commentary in this thread was to point out the lack of research done by a singular member who stated and post significant misinformation that “most states allow firearms in their state fairs” and 10 were found, quite quickly actually, which do not...

fine, get your panties into a knot about your perception of what “no weapons” means, on the clearly stated information about one of the ones i found...i personnally do not give a rat’s derrière...

bottom line...to tell our readers “most allow” is to do our readers and his silly BS wantabe blog readership a tremendous disservice!

No, the bottom line is that I lived there from 1989-2013 and was keenly aware of and involved in changes to Texas laws, and that I showed you how you were wrong. Even your own source says you're wrong.

If you want to stop reading too soon, then just go to Texas Penal Code 46.02, which starts out with: "(a) A person commits an offense if the person:
(1) intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun or club;"

By your standard, carrying a handgun is completely banned in Texas.

how on earth did you morph your thought process into the above post regarding me stating handgun carry is completely banned, especially since the only location i have citing and quoting from is the information strictly from the Texas State fair's website?

KB, what i have been stating from the beginning of this thread, is that according to the non-profit controlling the Texas State Fair's website...'weapons are not allowed...this includes guns' period!

where did anybody mention a 'club' for goodness sake...

you should have been there in the early 70's when it was a fast and wonderful state...tho almost bankrupt due to the oil crisis.

I was told yesterday that our local AR15 firearms manufacturer is having a hard time keeping up with orders.

I ordered all of the pieces parts to build my own with the "special request" that all externals be black.

It is a semi-automatic long gun intended for hunting and sporting (target) purposes. It is not only my favorite, the design seems to be America's favorite too...:D

Because you stop reading before you get to the relevant section, which is this, from your own link:

License to Carry a Handgun
A person holding a valid Texas License to Carry a Handgun (LTC), or a valid concealed handgun license from a reciprocating state, is permitted to enter the Fair with his or her concealed handgun, provided that he or she thereafter fully complies with all applicable laws.

KB, just cannot seem to make the reality of the situation any clearer for ya over what the Texas state fair non-profit enity put on their website under prohibited items, w/o any type of exemption statement whatsoever in their prohibited section.

further, as stated perviously, i truly do not care about their website’s conflicting information posted outside the prohibited section that has caused your underware to become seriously wedged in places not discussed on public forums!

take it up with the non-profit’s mgmt...

so please, have a good day!
