Gun rights in the wake of the crushing defeat of the RNC by the DNC on Nov 6 2012.

As I awake this morning after having partied most of the night with my like minded friends, my mind muses on gun rights in the wake of the crushing defeat of the RNC by the DNC last night on Nov 6, 2012.

I think the NRA will need to do more during the coming months and years to discourage any new gun laws. Because as we all know, guns do not kill, people do.

I think that under the Roberts court of the USSC, an AWB would probably be ruled to be unconstitutional. The 5 gun loving guys on the court seem to judge guns by their popularity, and from the wording of Heller any gun that is popular is protected by 2A, and AR-15's are definitely super-popular. It is practically the only rifle I ever see at our local gun range whenever I go (once a year) to sight-in my 1903 Springfield-esque bolt action scoped hunting rifle.

I hope the DNC will not let Obama go for an AWB however, because last time Clinton did this is spawned Newt Gingrich and cost the DNC control of both houses of Congress. And that's not worth it. Crazed psycho's use their AK-47's and AR-15's to kill only a few handful of victims every year, and that's a lot less than drug pigeons or DUI drivers kill in a month.

I think it is unfortunate that crazed psycho's love AK-47's and AR-15's so much, but that does not mean that having an AK or AR makes you a crazed psycho. It only means there are some really bad apples in your midst with the same kind of guns.

I wish the NRA could concentrate their efforts on promoting Constitutional Carry or Shall-Issue legislation at the very least. But the popularity of AK's and AR's and their use by psycho shooters all across the USA in several notorious incidents is going to distract the NRA from Constitutional Carry or Shall-Issue legislation.

Good luck, LaPierre. Keep the faith and keep up the good work.

Those in support of the Second Amendment, who are on the Right, ought to start bringing Liberals into the fold. Liberal gun-toters are real, and do vote.

Liberal and gun toters are not the norm, you guys and gals are rare.

If obama is to become emperor of the USA he needs to get silence his critics by doing away with the 1st admendment (even though he and his supporters will call you a whinner or rasict if you disagree with him). This can only be done by doing away with the 2nd admendment first.

A couple of ways he could do this....

1. Courts, would take more than his 4 years. But he might be thinking long term for his party.

2. United Nations, I think he explored this avenue and hasn't given up on it yet.

3. Martial Law, I could see this if their is a large major event. Does anyone remember New Orleans and the gun confiscation they had after Katina.

Other than that I think our guns are safe even though it is the only thing keeping him from making us all slaves. He has already inslaved anyone that gets welfare or foodstamps.

I am not sure what "crushing defeat" you saw but there was NO crushing defeat last night.

In the House and Senate the breakdown of seats held by republicans and democrats is almost exactly the same.

Obama is still president.

What changed ? Nothing !!!

Its as if there was never an election at all.

What would cause them to review it?

Someone with NRA support and funding would need to bring a lawsuit. Same as Heller did in DC.

Then it has to work its way up to the US Supreme Court.

Scalia would take the case. He seems itching to rule on rifles as well. Even on fully automatic rifles, sounds like, from his commentary.

And Roberts would probably agree. Both of them would probably like to set a conservative literal precedent while they still have a 5 man majority.

You are claiming that Obama was a republican for four years and now he is a democrat? Either you have lost it, or your pants are on fire.

Where are those superior debating skills you keep talking about?

Reclaimed it for another 4 years, after first claiming it 4 years ago after 8 years of unauthorized occupation by Bush.

Exactly.

Obama won the White House. He reclaimed it from himself.

The democrats won the senate and reclaimed it from itself.

The republicans kept the house which they had before the election.

Tell me again about this crushing defeat you speak of............

The "crushing defeat" for the presidency came from the Electoral College, not the popular vote. The popular vote was a photo-finish. The Electoral College has negated the popular vote several times before in history... the EC needs to be eliminated! And Obama didn't get all 538 Electoral Votes... he didn't get Utah's.

You did not take my $1000 bet. I bet Romney would win Utah without question. That was a no brainer.

I now predict that Park City will become his new home.

It's the only place he can show his face anymore and drink the red koolaid to drown his sorrows with.

Yes they vote for gun grabbing libtards like Obama!

Oh really?

I suppose I didn't vote Gary Johnson (I) for President, nor Andy Barr (R) KY 6TH Dist. Congress and a good mix of I's and R's for other positions.

Huh, must have been some crazy acid driven trip I was on that involved me waking up at 5am, driving twenty minutes to the school house, and standing in line for the better part of forty minutes just to cast votes for the Center-Right, and Constitutionalists.

OH WELL!

Hear, hear.

The Republican Party is doing everything it can to alienate those who do not define "conservative" as white and holier-than-thou. If the party can't control your bedroom, your medical care, your marriage, and your church, you're the enemy.

It will cost them, but whether soon enough for the country is a question.
