I heard today that the sponsors have been notified that 200 people were coming from Oklahoma for this rally and others from all over. The weather could be better but it's pretty good for Ky. on Jan. 31st. It will be big.
Utube blogger iv8888 has been talking about this rally and plans on attending and live streaming the entire thing on his Utube channel.

i'm sorry to hear both the house and senate adjourned yesterday, the day before the advocacy rally, for the week!

now why on earth would you hold a rally on the empty capitol's steps with the entire legislative gaggle absent?

but on the rainy crappy day the NRA was specifically mentioned, actually the only advocacy group mentioned btw, on the local wkyt newspeek media reporting on the rally.

sparse crowd shown in the bkgnd?

wait...per 31 jan 2020 courier-journal quote

Around 100 gun owners from across the state have converged on the Kentucky Capitol in Frankfort on Friday for a rally in support of the Second Amendment.

Organized by the group We Are KY Gun Owners...unquote.

yet another FB only sponsor of rally...per their FB page: "Private group" "Created about 2 months ago"

here i thought KC3 was the "hub" in the KY advocacy movement...¿

If the NRA was there in surprized a 100 showed up.

Better that rally had never been held. No reason for it.
The 2A county resolutions across our state had sent a strong message , this little hiccup by the NRA gave the journal a chance to try to take the steam out .

Of course the Courier Journal is a liberal rag also.

The rally went off very well. The weather did not help. I was there at 6:30 am, setting up in the dark. I was warmly dressed and not uncomfortable at all. It was dry as a bone at that time. The crowd started coming in at about 8:30. and grew steadily until about 11:00. At the largest, it was about 500 people. I was a little disappointed with that number. The rain hit about 10:00 and I got colder and colder. My feet got wet and were freezing. My ears and nose were cold. The crowd started slowly leaving about 11:00. I wished I could leave too. The House and Senate adjourned for the weekend at 10:00 and many legislators were circulating with the crowd. You never go to Frankfort to talk to legislators when they will be in session all day. The general public is not allowed to enter the Senate or House floor and wander around when they are in session. You go to their offices before and after they have adjourned.

People were in and out of the Capitol building all day with AR's and AK's. The Security started just waving all openly armed people around the metal detectors. Everybody else was forced through as usual. The news media got hold of video of that and is now having a cow. About 1:00 the news crews finally decided to show up. By then, the place was soaked and the ground was muddy. My chair and table kept sinking in the mud. Many speakers were heard. Savannah Maddox was great, as usual. Art Thomm, of the NRA, came here from Virginia and spoke and promised help. He has always delivered. Of course, the much-beloved President of KC3 spoke to the crowd and mesmerized everyone with his brilliant oratory. My County Judge/Exec. came by the KC3 table to say hello. I told him he better get some extra chairs in the courtroom for Tuesday night when we have the vote on the Sanctuary resolution. He said he'd already done that and now had seating for 100. Normally, there aren't ten people that show up fo those meetings. I told him that I didn't think he had half as many as he was going to need. I'm taking my own chair.

All in all, it was a good rally. The rain really caused problems for many people and they left early. I got to see many old buddies and got to make many new friends. KC3 signed up about 50 new members. One of them was a retired NYPD police officer who had moved to Ky. He said that he couldn't believe the freedom we have to be left alone and the space we have to enjoy that freedom and that he and his wife both love their new life Ky. As always, there were dozens of people with questions about the Ky. gun laws and the constitution. Of course, the stars of the rally were Thomas Massie and Dick Heller. Both gave rousing speeches. Heller said that he first applied for a license to have a gun in his home in 1976 and fought with the DC government for the next 35 years before he got it. Of course, both men were swamped by people that wanted to get their pictures taken with them. Sadly, I must report I was one of those people that pestered the two men. Toward the end of the rally, all the organizers and sponsors came to the podium. There were six or seven of them. I only knew two before the rally. They said they had a lot of help from GOA but I didn't see anybody from that organization or even see a sign or poster. NRA had a booth set up and two people present.

Was there a peep spoken by any of the speakers about illegal justice center restrictions, illegally trying to prohibit open carry in bars ,etc.?

I thought not.
The NRA needs to stat the heck out of ky.
With friends like them , we need no other enemies.

During the rally, I bumped into my old friend Senator Albert Robinson. He said that I should tell anybody that was still worried about any gun control bills getting through this year that he is the Chairman of the Committee on Military Affairs and Public Protection and that is the committee that all gun bills go to in the Senate. He would not allow a hearing for any bill that added any restrictions on gun owners and was not absolutely consistent with the 2nd Amendment. Without a hearing, they never get to the floor for a vote. I can assure you that Sen. Robinson is an honorable and reliable man. He wouldn't say anything like that unless he meant it. That makes two very powerful men in the Senate, Robinson and Damon Thayer that are saying, RELAX, we got this covered. By the way, Albert is up for reelection this year. if you know have any friends or relatives in Bath, Estill, Jackson, Laurel, Menifee or Powell Counties, tell that he is a friend of ours and we can't afford to lose him.

Just a thought.
Very comforting words from Robinson but for one thing.
He appears not to know what the 2nd Amendment says.
There are NO gun restrictions consistent with the 2A.
I'm sure as a member of a gun right org, you respectfully pointed that out to the honorable senator.
There are no ifs, and, buts, except when's, in the 2A.

Thanks for the report. It is good that the turn out was as large as it was given the weather. Well done to all who made themselves available to answer questions with facts and figures...again, well done.

Senator Robinson does not need any corrections about the 2nd Amendment from me, you or anyone else and I would not presume to correct him. If you would read more carefully, you would see that there are no quotation marks in my post. They look like this (" "). My post was not a direct, word for word quotation of Senator Robinson's words, only a paraphrasing of those words and their meaning as used by any reasonable and intelligent person. I think everyone except you got that meaning. His remarks had nothing to do with his overall understanding of underlying facts. Those words only relayed his intended and planned actions with his committee. I, for one, understood them perfectly and appreciated his making them clear. Anyone who misunderstands those words can call, email, write a speak personally to Senator Robinson themselves. He speaks clearly enough for me.

Ok. I stand corrected. It was you who put in the " regulations consistent with the 2A"

I believed you were repeating what the man actually said without embellishing it.

In which case it is you who apparently does not understand there are no exceptions mentioned in the 2A to shall not be infringed.

Please excuse my ignorance.

Again, you cannot or will not read what is before you, even when you quote it. Here is what I wrote, "He would not allow a hearing for any bill that added any restrictions on gun owners and was not absolutely consistent with the 2nd Amendment." Those are two separate and individual things:
Item #1: added any restrictions on gun owners
Item #2: not absolutely consistent with the 2nd Amendment

Now just what is wrong with either of those. They both seem like good ideas to me.
Is there anything that will not twist and distort to make it look like something it isn't. I have not yet seen anything here on OCDO that you had a positive comment on. Every post you make is full of misinformation, unhappiness, negativity and falsehood. Yours must be a miserable life. Your postings are certainly full of misery and falsehoods. I often wonder if you have been drinking heavily when you post. Alcohol can often make people act as you do. Misreading the printed word and lashing out in a ranting manner.

gutshot, fraid your postings are also full of misinformation, e.g.,
1. regarding the organization sponsoring the recent KY rally;
2. your mendacious characterizations about OCDO's members who "...some of you went into a tizzy", or "...you continue to huddle in your caves here on OCDO...";
3. your flat out insult by accusing another member of being under the influence;
4. your incorrect presumption of a member being illiterate
5. as well as your misinterpretation a member is ranting at you.

sorry gut tis you who might look inward and wonder why you are exhibiting this uncharacteristic behaviour towards others.

tho putting this member on ignore might just signify you already acknowledge your exhibited behaviour has gotten bizarre and don't want to face the truth that someone else has recognized your unusual behaviour so you block them out by putting them on ignore!

Some people on OCDO use the ignore button? When you miss a post, you miss a lot.

I'll make it one sentence so maybe you will comprehend this.

There are NO gun restrictions consistent with the 2A.

And my post does not say there are to anyone who can read or anyone willing to read what is written and not twist it into something negative.
