Sigh...why don’t politicians learn...

SHERIFF Deputy Peterson failed to engage during the event...

SHERIFF Israel change emergency procedures...

FL Governor DeSantis fired Sheriff Israel for ‘for incompetence and neglect of duty.’

NOW this governor want to approve the State’s Sheriff Offices to provide screening and training by a local sheriff’s office.

WTF are the idiots thinking?

Good. Armed school staff is the ONLY answer to school shootings.

Just because they are being forced to be trained by idiots doesn't mean they won't have enough sense to ignore that training.

While I do have the same problem with not simply getting out of the way and allowing all citizens to carry in a school as the 2A protects, this will at least save untold children's lives in Florida.

Ghost1958...the same rhetoric was stated as the good LEs claimed as the hired, trained extra LEs and blessed them as Resource Officers, like deputy Peterson who is bloody happy spending his six figure retirement after failing to do his job when it counted.

My Peterson be remembered throughout history as a coward verses the hero he could have been remembered as!

Some citizens are more equal than others - I hate that too. And the police oversight. And the guard vibe. But the net effect will probably be harder schools that deter shootings. If so, any softer schools that get targeted will have a hard time keeping up the no-guns mantra.

No guns in schools in Ohio didn't happen until 1992. And, I think 1990 federal law.

CBS Evening News promoted the story which stated teachers were mandated to participate in 144 hours of training and interestingly Broward county schools made the plan optional!

Per FL watchdog 2 may, quote:
Classroom teachers were excluded from the guardian program as a concession to Senate Democrats and reticent Republicans during...

Many districts said they would adopt the program if local law enforcement agencies provided the training but, under SB 7026, it was optional for sheriffs to do so. Many didn’t, citing liability concerns.

The bill was vigorously opposed by teachers unions, school boards across the state, student groups and gun control activists during its stormy matriculation through committee hearings and its combined six hours of debate on the House floor. Unquote

Are not the school board members elected by the citizenry? If a majority of the citizens want school carry can't they elect pro carry board members?

Because typically, gun carry doesn't rest on the shoulders of the school board.

RSMo 571.030. Unlawful use of weapons — exceptions — penalties. — 1. A person commits the offense of unlawful use of weapons, except as otherwise provided by sections 571.101 to 571.121, if he or she knowingly: ...

Not sure about FL or KY, here in MO, we citizens certainly have the opportunity to elect pro-liberty board members.
