First heard about this from Drudgereport.com

Good news for Iowans that need to travel through and/or to Illinois. The state legislature has 180 days to come up with a new law that pleases the court or the ban on the carry of firearms gets lifted with no restrictions. I suspect the legislature will fail to meet the court's demands and it will be challenged again.

I'd also like to point out that while the NRA is all over this in reporting on it and commenting on the case the real heavy lifting was done by the Second Amendment Foundation. I am a proud life member of both groups but I feel like the SAF does not get all the credit it deserves.

I suspect that the court will only accept something like what Iowa has, shall issue permits, open or concealed carry, minimal training requirements. Anything less and they'll have to start over. I'm hoping that there are at least a handful of legislators that vote down every carry bill that comes to them to force the rest to either agree on a very permissive permit system or face the "threat" of unrestricted carry. Someone there has to stand up for the Second Amendment.

This is going to be fun to watch, I'm popping some corn and settling in for the show.
