"How a man survived after his dog shot him on a hunting trip"

Between Tex and his hunting dog, one or both of them got careless on gun safety. Don't drive with your shotgun pointed at yourself, and keep your paw off the trigger until you're on target! (Your owner is not the target.)

Luckily Tex survived as of the article date. Very badly injured though, and I hope he recovers. Moral: think twice about how you store or arrange your weapon and the ways triggers can be engaged.

And it's not just Tex; he messed up and suffered the consequences in a terrible way, but I'm very sorry it happened and I wish him well; I don't see him as a lone scapegoat when bad handling is pretty widespread. Not everyone who talks the 4 rules actually walks the walk, and it's not only themselves they endanger. Last time I was in a gun shop, the owner muzzled me while ostensibly "safety checking" a firearm. No thanks buddy, it was much safer before you got started....

I suppose the 72yo should consider himself lucky, not for surviving the shooting, but rather the Texas Parks & WildLife didn’t cite him for improper carry of his LG in a vehicle, e.g., loaded and not cased.

Also wonder how the olde gent is going to pay for air evacuation to hospital as I don’t believe Medi-anything covers that?

Quick inquiry HP, when flashed at LGS, did you comment about their actions then walk out, as I normally do or as i have heard some individuals quickly backup or engage in some other significant bodily movement to emphasize the muzzle sweep towards them.

I worry since I’m OC’g, some passerby/store associate might construe my movement as violent or an attempt to grab the firearm being shown and react harshly and physically towards me?
