Unfortunately, City Hall and Chamber of Commerce can't tell me anything. The FWC people were exceptionally helpful. They pointed out that it's hard to tell on Google Maps that the Pier has been rebuilt. The Google Maps picture was taken while it was still a mess. Street View is updated and shows the completed new Pier.

I have highlighted in Red.

Parking is wherever.

Hopefully I'll be saying "...and nothing happened" later today.

Contact them and ask:

The Cedar Key Area Chamber of Commerce

P.O. Box 610 :: Cedar Key, Florida :: 32625
352/543.5600 phone/fax :: info@cedarkey.org

They were no help.

But, I do find it amusing that you were on top of this new thread immediately... :p

The Pier is actually Levy County, not the City. FWC was helpful, nobody else had a clue...

For my busted-ass 2-wheels, it's half a tank. 85 degrees, not a cloud in sight... Forecast says it'll be that way all day. Sweet...

Why's that? Don't you ever use the "What's New" button?

PT1911AR, you can see the rail peeking out the Dremeled slot...

Nothing happened. Of course, you can catch more fish with bait... :p

Good job! Nicely done.

Welcome to the "fray".

By the way, I just picked up one of those rigs just like yours, only in black. Makes it much easier than using just the 25 yard line reel to work with!!

I did it again to day, but there's been a casualty. My left exhaust pipe fatigued at the flange... There is now just a big open hole coming out the the engine. Sadface. Keeps my left foot warm tho....

Got stuck behind a school bus on the way back... Oh, the dirty looks from the fat ladies picking up their fat kids...

Pics or it didn't happen

Yes, it really did happen.

Picture of the "Facilities." I think you could actually sit on the porcelain throne and fish at the same time...

I ran video/audio the whole time. Since nothing really happened, I figured I'd conserve bandwidth instead of stream a few hours worth of boring 720p video...

I didn't catch anything...

I've got a friend down your way I'm going to visit for a new exhaust in the near future..... Wouldn't mind going "fishing" while I was there.....

What is the closest spot to go fishing from the intersection of Toledo Blade and I-75?

Ixtow,

That would be one of my "regular" spots.

El Jobean Pier. Right on down highway 776!

Public access. No fees. Large ramp with plenty of space. Fast tidal movement under the bridges.

It usually has a good group of people fishing there so you're not out there all by yourself.

Nothing on the pier for eating or drinking but there are several small bars just off the pier once you're done.

Lemme know when you'll be here and I'll "pencil you in" on my voluminous social calendar!

Hey, if you're here on a Monday night, let's do the 6pm IDPA shoot!

It looks a bit inland, still 'coastline' license?

It'll probably be short notice. Likely a Saturday. Can't say which one other than "no rain" and "not freezing."

You REALLY do NOT want to see me shoot handgun... Would be better for everyone if I was carrying a Rifle. But the neo-con snobs don't like that... [this is not directed at anyone specific, nor was the original statement... Is Grey getting greasy on the knob again? Presumptive moderation is bad moderation.]

The FWC site says:

"Florida residents fishing for saltwater species from the shore or from a structure fixed to shore are required to have a shoreline fishing license."

Doesn't say anything about inland, shoreline, beach, Gulf or ocean.

Actually I have both salt and freshwater licenses so it not a problem for me but for most of the year I was using the free shoreline license for all of the Open Carry fishing events in Fort Myers, which is not even close to the Gulf or Atlantic.

I called FWC to find out where on the Caloosahatchee the shoreline fishing license no longer becomes valid. As I recall, the guy said it's where the water is no longer brackish. I asked him where that was, and he couldn't give me a specific location, but just kept saying that Centennial Park was okay.

Well, El JoBean pier is definitely brackish. Charlotte harbor and the Myakka river are where this pier is so we're good to go!!
