Carry to the Capitol even with OCT

Friday, January 13, 2017 at 3 PM - 4 PM
Austin Texas State Capital
1100 Congress Avenue, Austin, Texas 78701

We will be meeting at the South Steps

"With the new legislature in session, it's time to let them know that it's way past time Texas recognized our constitutional right to not only keep arms, but to bear them!

Last legislative session was a step forward, but we are not through fighting for the full return of our Constitutionally protected natural right to self defense. Join us at the Capitol and let your voice be heard."

Speaker schedule is still being put together, but we expect Rep. James White and Rep. Jonathan Stickland.

It would be ideal that individuals attending try to schedule an appointment with the representative of their own district to speak to them and encourage their vote FOR pro-rights legislations and AGAINST anti-rights legislation. I think it would be ideal to coordinate with any others from your district and try to schedule one meeting together, rather than multiple separate meetings, to be respectful of time. The Facebook group or Facebook event page would probably be the best place to coordinate this, but if you aren't on Facebook I can try to help you coordinate by proxy thru me.

The more the merrier!

Did you think of today as being the day for the carry event? The same day as electors vote for Trump in your state?

Might have been fun.

I didn't think about it to be honest. Really, any excuse to get together is ok with me, but I think they try to save the "big" events for just a few times per year, else people won't be able to travel to them.

Well, I think the praise really ought to go to CJ and the state-level organizers, but thank you! And no worries - even living here it's going to be difficult if I can make it...

A decent turnout, but certainly not a large one. Nice to see that Stickland, Huffines, and Rinaldi were all able to make it.

The screeching witch (hmm, I may have misspelled that word) was exactly the irritant that she attempted to be, but she was, of course, apparently quite comfortable knowing that she was surrounded by a demographic more law abiding than members of law enforcement itself, which was quite fortunate for her (and I use the term "her" quite loosely).

Here's some video (thanks goes to Batman!) for those interested:

Thank you for the links.

Seriously, the hecklers might as well have been shouting baaaahhhhh, baaaaahhhhh, baaaaahhhhh. Almost sounded like they were in a couple of parts.

I really wish I could have made it :(

ETA: Matt Rinaldi nailed it
