Carry on College grounds, but not in the buildings

Are we allowed to Open Carry on college grounds? I just found out that Im going to a "cook-out" and it's being held at Centre College for the Great American Brass Band Festival.

Ok, so it is legal to open or conceal carry at Colleges and Universities until someone asks you to leave?

I did not carry because I did not know the legality of it and it was a quick decision to go. I didn't have time to properly research it.

I would have open carried if I had known.

Yes it's legal to carry there, but they can also kick you off campus for having it. If you're a student, they can impose academic sanctions.

Let me try it this way. It is not a crime to carry on property owned by colleges and universities. It would be a crime to refuse to leave if requested to do so. That would be trespassing. They are not required to post signs or even identify property they own. If public property is leased to a college or university for a specific event, that property would be under the control of the college or university for the duration of the event and these same rules would apply.

Ok, I know this may have been kicked around, and I know that the Michael Mitchell case is all about this... but can ANYTHING be done without actually breaking "U.K.'s" law about leaving your gun in the car. It sounds like even if you leave your gun in the glove box, or any other covered container, that this is against U.K.'s policy.
I've had my weapon in my truck for several years since I cannot carry into my building, but I'm afraid that IF by some chance, someone finds out, that U.K. police will show up and want to search my vehicle. I know they cannot without a warrant, and they may have a hard time getting one, but this is a real issue with me.
Any advice would be helpful.

Kicked around? It has been discussed thoroughly. I don't know what you want us to say. UK prohibits guns on their campus, period. It's not a law, it is a UK rule and policy. I don't think that it is lawful for them to do that, but that is what the Mitchell case is about. It is not a crime to bring a gun onto UK's Campus, but if your gun is found you will be disciplined and might be expelled from school. You will not be charged with a crime. This will be clarified by the Ky. Supreme Court soon, but until then, be careful. Mitchell would have been fine if he had kept his mouth shut. He was overheard talking about guns and the person that heard the conversation thought he said he had a gun in his locker. When the campus police came and searched his locker he volunteered the info that his gun was in his car, then he, I assume, gave permission for them to search his car. If you have a gun in your car keep your mouth shut. Better yet, park off campus.

Do you know who has the rights if it's a leased building, with common lots ?
