Can we turn the profanity filter off?

I'm not offended by words but by a lack of them. It's really just about how they're used. I'm a (mostly) rational free-thinking human being who likes to open carry his words as well.

(Though, I will admit it's probably best to sensor the N word and I guess the C word as well ((except in the Australia and New Zealand / Great Brittan subforums. Though I feel like that's a site-wide setting.))

Anyway, the point is I'm offended at the fact my ability to express myself is restricted. Not that anyone really cares what I think, but I figured I'd lay it out there.

I'm pretty sure ad hominem attacks are against the rules already anyway, so it really makes no difference if I were to call someone a moron or a ******* moron, I'd still get yelled at for that either way.

Finally I agree with Doug Stanhope. Anyone who is offended by words probably had unfit parents who taught them to be offended by the words themselves in addition to the intent behind them.

Lets see you have 8 posts and you are trying to change a forum that has been around a long time.

Well.

To be fair I really wasn't expecting much to come from it, and really just wanted to make my opinion known.

Not that anyone cares about my opinion, but I don't really care much for their's either (unless we share the same opinion that is.)

I'm also a fan of the first amendment, not that it applies here other than if I get censored it won't be the government doing it.

There are many other ways to get around word filters anyway. In fact, if one is good with their tongue they can be quite the cunning linguist. :p

"Can we turn the profanity filter off?"

No. We--any of the few still active members--cannot.

As far as I know, the only one remaining with admin powers is John Pierce, one of the founders and co-owners. He is mostly absentee.

Yeah that's the impression that I got is the administration seems to be mostly absent these days. Although someone was there to approve my new account request.

Also thanks for giving me a serious replay without any serious vitriol or too much snark. It is appreciated.

Wait, did the administration turn it off, or is shit just not in the list of filtered bad words?
I need to go listen to George Carlin's "Seven Dirty Words" again to remind myself if it should be there or not.

EDIT: Nope, in my post above "******* moron" is still blocked out.
Either shut it off or add shit to the list. At least be consistent.
