iv heard x ring is good. check out deloc.org most members are from the area. one member teaches the class much cheaper than dover. shooters choice is good for me there close. dicks sporting goods carries mostly shotguns

handgun or rifle is the same process. all same day. if you are a resident it is much easier not to sure on out of staters.

fill out the forms instant check probably take less than a hour, normal 10 min but with recent events they are busy.

Xring in Newark is a good store. Ask for Mr Johnson.

If you are going to go downstate, I seriously recommend Lawmen's on Rt 10, near Dover AFB. In fact, being a 1 hr drive I would recommend it anyway. Tom works there, and he is awesome.

For the class go to Shooter's Choice in Dover. It was $250, but it was seriously worth it. It's the best class in the state. Sure you can go somewhere else and only spend $100 ... but all I can say is you get what you pay for.

It's an adventure just to browse there. Fun place... the owner's a trip.

as noted above, I would not recommend lawmens. they were real dicks to my wife in there and were assholes on the phone to me. basically if your not a cop, don't even bother.

every store in the area I have noticed, has something better or more stock than the other store.

Dover:

Lawman's has a good selection of holsters and ancillary stuff, but they didn't have the .357 Mag ammo I was looking for (short barrel 135 gr. gold-dots for my SP101). The gun inventory looked good the day I was there. I will agree that LE and USAF seem to be favored as customers although I was treated quite well.

Shooters Choice is much better stocked these days since Dave bought the store from Chuck a few years back. The store seems quite busy these days.

For CCW Classes, I agree with a previous poster about Shooters Choice. It's probably the best in the state and Dave is considered the go-to guy in Delaware on civilians and firearms. I have to think that a training certificate from Shooters might look strong to a judge when reviewing the application from a qualified individual. The downside to the class is that it is 5 or 6 evenings over two weeks.

yes, Jeff is a trip. Good place and good prices. many items in stock are used but he give good prices for items he orders.

I know this post is a bit late, but X-Ring is a wonderful place to do business.
I bought two AR's there when I was at UD a few years back. Really a good group of folks work there and they dont have an attitude problem like most other shops.
