Hi all, have a question that I think I know the answer to, but will ask any way. Sooo I live in Long Island NY one of the best places in the country to own a fire arm (that was a joke). long story short I had a legal issue a year ago that was supposed to be all taken care of. except the judge was not happy that she hadn't seen me in a wile and told my lawyer she wanted me in before charges were dismissed. for what ever reason there was a communication problem with the court and my attorney and I was never made aware that I had a court date, glad I paid $3000. so i just went along with my life thinking all was fine,,, until I got a call from the local PD (small town) letting me know that I had a warrant for a failure to appear.
I contacted my lawyer ASAP to see what the hell was going on. all is fine and I have a new date in a few weeks to finally put every thing to bed.
so finally my question, can I go buy my AR-15 that I was planning to buy this week or will they shoot me down? should I call the gun store and ask them or should I just wait a few more weeks to buy?

Welcome. Now that we have that out of the way. There is a saying - Google before asking a stupid question. Google form 4473 and read the questions. If you answer the questions correctly then you are good to go. If not tough luck.

The reason for my answer is you didn't really say what your in trouble for.

CoL, you forgot to use the adjective 'truthfully' when the OP reviews the ATF form 4473.

"The island comprises four counties in the U.S. state of New York: Kings and Queens (which comprise the New York City boroughs of Brooklyn and Queens, respectively) to the west; and Nassau and Suffolk to the east."

additionally, OP if you live in Kings or Queens Long Island counties - i believe you now need NY City permission to purchase...

me thinks you are s*** outta luck.
