Stove piping occurs, with under powered ammo and or bad mags/ill fitting mags, and or a bad slide spring. failing to extract usually occurs with bad extractors or under power ammo

bersa,

well I got a yugo car for sale and if you are old enough I got a edsel car for sale

You might want to check that the recoil spring is installed the right way around. Putting it in backwards is supposed to be a common problem. One end is smaller than the other and the small end needs to go on the barrel. Installing it backwards will cause FTEs and FTFs.

Welcome Jeff,

ChefW, I have a bersa thunder .380 I bought as a pocket gun when my P3AT broke. it's a little large for a pocket gun but will work with loose pants. I have put about 200 rounds through it and haven't got any FTEs. I am getting FTFs. The weird thing is the FTF is straight up like a stovepipe fail to extract. happens about once every other mag and withboth the original mag and an aftermarket one. Its not a bad gun and at defensive ranges will put them where you need them. I sure hope it works through its problem.
Well I thinkI'm just gonna wait till I have the dough saved up. Then I can get whatever I want! :celebrate

Not to interested in the Yugo but if the Edsel is in good shape with little body rust I'd be interested in seeing it.

I don't have the .380, but I do have a Firestorm FS22. It's an identical gun except for rubber grips & being a .22. I have noticed some wear on the feedramp (it is aluminum) after about700 rds. Wear could become a problem if you're someone who likes to shoot alot. Also, the grip screws have a tendency to come loose, but a little loctite will fix that.

I think the .380 is a decent carry gun. I have a lady friend in MD who has one and loves it. (obviously she can't carry it) Personally I'd rather carry a 9mm. I would recommend a Sig P225 / P6, but I don't really think it's comparable to the Bersa. It's inexpensive & reliable, but probably a little too large / heavy if you're looking for something along the lines of a bersa.

Oh yeah, mags are ridiculously expensive. Hell, I can't even find one for my FS22. I wish Bersa/Firestorm would work a bit harder on the parts / marketing side of things.

I've got a Bersa Thunder 380 that I am about to list on gunbroker.com. It has about 150 -200 rounds through it. There is really not even any wear on the clip or the entire gun for that matter. I am just consolidating and selling a few guns before I move this summer. The 380 is a great gun for the money and shoots very accuratly. If you are interested in purchasing it I would be willing to meet you somewhere to take a look at it. I live in West Chester but could go to Targetmaster or anywhere else if you want to take a look and even shoot it if you like. I also have plenty of pics of it as I was about to list it on gunbroker but if I can sell it locally without the listing fees then all the better. Let me know.

I have a Thunder 380 CC and love it. Shoots good and is easy to clean. It is my carry gun. And I have others to choose from. The others just got heavy and clumsy over time. The little Bersa feels like it isn't even there. Extra clips and goodies can be bought at Miller's gun center in New Castle.

I sell alot of these Bersa's in the .380, 9mm, and .40. I have not had any complaints from customers, and in fact I was thinking of getting one to compliment my 1911.

I own a thunder 380 CC and love it. Never had a problem with it... shoots good and easy to clean. Also never read a bad review on it in any of the mags either. Miller's has clips and goodies for it in stock.

I am also considering a .380 and am comparing Bersa to Accu-Tek. The AT comes in stainless, is a U.S. co. and has a Lifetime warranty @$249.00 list price.

Any comments about AT's would be welcome.

thanks

I've never shot either, but I prefer the bersa take-down and mag release controls to the accu-tek ones. I believe the accu-tek is a bit smaller than the bersa (ppk size instead of PPK/S) with a corresponding decrease in mag capacity and barrel length. I prefer the Bersa with that too.

It's a great gun, no problems with the cycling. I just got mine yesterday. It's really good for OC too if you have the right holster. I carry mine in an uncle mike's belt side with thumb break. I bought it because my wife is right handed while i am left handed. It's really easy to switch between the two.

An associate of mine with much more auto-loader experience than me, said Accu-Tek does not build as well as Bersa. As a result, they are not as easy to find in gun shops. Does anybody know of an AT dealer in DE? I'd like to see the difference.
