I have a FB friend (we're in a social group together) who is experiencing a rapidly-escalating "psycho husband" (her term), as he is feeling more stress from their upcoming separation before divorce.
(He has to be out of the house for a whole year before they can file for divorce; she asked him for a plan & a timeline on when he's going to accomplish that & he started threatening her, accusing her of cheating on him, grabbed her purse to search it, etc.)

Once he's out of the house, she wants to take a pistol class & buy a pistol for defense of herself & her children.
She says she's already comfortable with rifles.
Is there anyone here who's in the Cary area, or knows a good instructor who is?
It would be nice if they could do something like PPITH, even if she's not going to actually take that class, because she'll want to consider how to get her kids to safety, develop a plan with them, etc., so having someone who can help her think about those issues would be a bonus.

In order:

Cary--PC Shooting 919-868-5609
Raleigh--Triangle Shooting Academy 919-802-2040
Apex -- Wake County Firearms and Training Center 919-303-0851

Your friend can apply now to the Sheriff's office for a Pistol Purchase Permit (PPP). The application can be found online here: https://wakeso.permitium.com/application

Without the CC permit (CHP) she can still carry concealed while on her own property; everywhere else is OC or not at all until she has the CHP. All the gun shops and pawn stores will have a decent selection of used guns.

It may be out of the way for her, but I would recommend Paul Smith of Frontline Defense.919-605-8350
Here's a link to more info and reviews.

I am not affiliated with FLD; I have been to the range in its early stage, and have bought guns from Paul.

I forgot to add, that it is more than just he has to be out of the house for a year, They have to be legally separated for a year to file for divorce.

Yes, I phrased it poorly... they have to be separated for a year.
Apparently an important part of that is living in different abodes.

Today she got a restraining order against him. Yay her!

Thank you for the suggestions. I will give them all to her.

Make sure she follows up on the other stuff. That restraining order is just a few sheets of paper. They will not stop him from getting very personal and inflicting severe injury should he desire.
