Accuracy Standards

On a B-27 target, or whatever you use, what do you consider a 'miss.' Me personally, I always shoot at about 10 yards, standing, and unsupported. Generally speaking, I consider anything in the 9 ring a bad shot and anything in the 8 ring a miss. That's firing at a controlled pace which is about a shot every second. That's just my personal standards. What's yours?

In terms of simulating a real encounter, I don't use the rings much. I go for the COM. I know when I am exhibiting good placement or not, and I judge my accuracy based on my group-size.

When I do use the rings, and am shooting for accuracy, I am only satisfiedto keep them all in the X/10, from 15yd or less, and inside the9 at 25yd... But I usually save my B-27s for real practice, and use The 8" roundShoot-N-C targets at 25yd for plinking & aimed-fire.

This was from mymost recentrange excursion with my 5" XD-45LE (.45 GAP) @ 15yd. 10rds fired at a rate of approximately 1 shot per second... It was my best group that day, it measures right at 4" center-to-center:
