5, maybe 6 shot at New Orleans parade.

Well it couldn't have happened at a better spot. where all guns are forbidden,
and I will bet the gun was out in the open when it fired by itself the evil thing.
Maybe they were "chocalate" bullets.

Whedre are the NOPD when real criminals are fireing guns? They get around
to the honest carrying citizens quick enough.
Maybe they wil finally explain when the parade no carry law was enacted so
we will know if it is pre-empted. Or is the idea of the press doing a little research
to check facts to much of a stretch.

I saw the whole thing go down and was not more than 50 feet away. Saw 8-10 thugs pass by us, all wearing the customary flat-brimmed caps, dreadlocks, red athletic starter jackets, and baggy pants, and within minutes, heard shooting and saw the target fall. The cotton candy vendor that got hit was right behind us. I didn't have my gun because of the 1000 foot rule, but I will think twice about following the law (or going to parades) after this. If every respectable man (who hadn't been drinking) had been open-carrying, I don't think that this would have happened there. They would have kept it in the hood where it belongs.

I wish I could write more, but honestly, seeing the target puking up vomit and blood in the middle of St. Charles Avenue yesterday and thinking he was going to die right there in front of me has left me somewhat tired and numb.

I was at work last night at Baton Rouge General Hospital and overheard a couple of the admissions clerks talking. Turns out that one of them was the grandmother of the child who was grazed in the back. She was there in NO with her family to enjoy a parade and ended up in the middle of a shootout. She said her grandson was goig to be fine but that it was terrible that these gangbangers can do something like this. Thing is, she lives here in Baton Rouge only because this is where her mother lives and she's taking care of mom. She can't wait to move back to NO. Personally, after going through something like that I'd be looking at staying in Baton Rouge.

T'hell with both of 'em. Get north of Alec, at the very least. (And if they get all the way north, stay east of the Red!)

There's no place like home, yale.

I'm still here, me; and I hope more good people will stay - or move back if they've left. If not, the terrorists win (figuratively, I'm equating these street thugs with terrorists because that's what they really are). The attitude that says abandon New Orleans really gets my blood boiling. Don't you realize the truth of the statement that the only thing necessary for evil to win is for good people to stand by and do nothing?

I want more people like you and my other friends on this board to come and make a stand for decency and the rule of law in this place. Do we abandon a friend or relative because they are ill? No, we nurse them along and help them fight the sickness.

My great, great, (I'm not sure how many greats) grandfather fought at the Battle of New Orleans; I've got dead relatives buried all over town who worked hard to make things better here all their lives formore than 200 years;and I'm not willing to toss that aside so easily.

...I've seen the corruption in NOLA since the 60's...that's been La. gobblement...for who knows how long...but you make a great point...enough good people standing up to them can change things....my honest question is this: Have there been enough non-working welfare ticks relocated out of New Orleans that there're enough working Americans there to win the elections and throw out the pond scum who're in power now? A new government there wouldn't stop it all, but it might get the rebuilding money spent on rebuilding....where it's gone till now, noone seems to know....NOT toward rebuilding....a "person" in Ca who hasn't lived there in over 5 years was convicted of scamming about $230,000 of relief money....many other stories of the same kind of thing...the majority have to want it done right or it won't change....how they re-elected the mayor....after all he's done....tells me most like it like it's been...one of the most corrupt police forces in history....it's a lot to overcome...not impossible, but a lot....is there enough organization there to put up a good set of candidates and get them elected??? That's step one....
