Well it's almost time again for me to score a new big ol' handgun, and I've got my eyes on a revolver this time, the Ruger Super Blackhawk Alaskan chambered in .454 Casull to be exact. This may be the most aesthetically pleasing revolver I've ever laid eyes on. I'm dead set on owning some of the biggest, baddest handguns in existence and I think this pistol will be a nice addition.

I almost got a killer price on a 500 Magnum from a poster on this forum but the deal fell through. Ever since I've been craving a big bore Magnum handgun. I would love a .460 Magnum, but for the price I don't think I can complain about the .454. Plus, I'm in love so I'm ignoring logic a little bit.

I mean look at this thing... Mmmmmm

A friend has one of those Alaskans in .454 Casull and I tried it out. After firing six rounds my right hand felt like someone had been stomping on it. I'll stick with my Ruger Red Hawk in .45 Colt if I feel the need to tote a big bore handgun.

I'm not a fanboy of Magnums anyway. I think that the recoil is excessive and, this is just my personal opinion, they don't do the job much better than non-magnum revolvers.

Nothing wrong with a big ol' hand cannon!

I think the user BlueSquid carries the pistol of which you are speaking. Maybe he will chime in! I'm sure there are others...

There's some "cool factor" to carrying a pistol that shoots 410 shotgun shells.

Unfortunately, no, not a raging judge in my arsenal. I have a Judge UltraLite with a bobbed hammer. Despite the name, the recoil isn't terrible, though it's definitely a surprise the first few times shooting it. I do enjoy carrying that one, as well. It's a conversation starter, for sure.
