Whatcom Open Carry is headed down to Olympia! Let's gather with like minded patriots and ensure that the politicritters understand that we are done with their anti-liberty measures. We are going to gather at the Cordata Station Park and Ride at 5:00am, with a departure no later than 5:30am.

We are now seeing the result of compromise regarding so called "gun safety" measures long touted by the leftist. "Just a few more common sense rules" has resulted in the wholesale attempted destruction of the most fundamental Constitutional freedom that we have. Make no mistake; not only are they coming for your ARs, they are coming for every semi-automatic firearm you own. Then it will be your revolvers, and then your shotguns. If you believe otherwise, look at Virginia.

uh boomboy, the WA state Legislative body hasn't had a thing to do with any of the firearm issue inflicted on the citizens of WA whatsoever...so whatcha going to lobby for?

Unless of course it's to lobby about elimination of the State's initiative process[es].

unfortunately that will fall on deaf ears cuz those serving in the legislature love the process since they can watch gun restrictions get put into affect without one iota of responsibility to their constituents ~ cuz it's the will of the people of WA state. As you are aware, anything passed by initiative the legislature can't tough for three years!

Momma's against everything, et al., truly love the initiative process cuz they just need a mouth piece to sponsor the nonsense; sugar daddy to fund and promote their initiative process cause so those few citizens who do vote, just passed further firearm restrictive legislation without the legislature even worrying about their reelection!

just saying you're not chasing the root cause of the problem...

but go enjoy the back slapping, glad handing, all the while the momma's, et al., are working on yet another initiative and nothing can be done!

oh this can't happen in VA cuz they let their legislature screw things up!

Initiatives can be challenged as being unconstitutional. And a stay can be ordered to allow the merits of the initiative to be weighed as to its constitutionality.

In Missouri, only as to the wording of the initiative (a constitutional amendment in Missouri)...and there is a deadline to challenge the language before voting day. The liberals in the state, and specifically STL and KC attempted to sue the "constitutional" carry amendment (with strict scrutiny language included in the admendment) back a few years ago...and the courts tossed their suit due to the deadline to challenge had passed.

The legislature has the opportunity to craft legislation to nullify the effects of a previously amended constitutional amendment...this is how MO got CCW back in 2003.

guess not so good, and these are not even citizen initiatives but rather legislator initiated:
Per NRA ILA quote:
On January 23rd, the Washington Senate Law & Justice Committee approved three anti-gun bills, among them Senate Bill 6077 to ban most standard capacity magazines. These bills are now headed to the Rules Committee awaiting being pulled to the Senate floor. In addition, the House of Representatives passed House Bill 1010 to allow the state patrol to destroy confiscated firearms, clearing the way to send this bill to the Senate.

Senate Bill 6077 bans the manufacture, possession, sale, transfer, etc. of standard capacity magazines that hold more than ten rounds of ammunition. This measure is strongly supported by the Governor and the Attorney General.

Senate Bill 6294 imposes government red tape and expensive training requirements to obtain a Concealed Pistol License.

Senate Bill 6288 creates an Office of Firearm Violence Prevention within the executive branch of state government. Governor Jay Inslee and his administration have already made it clear where they stand on Second Amendment issues—they routinely sponsor and support gun ban legislation and initiatives designed to disarm law-abiding citizens. This office would be nothing more than a tax-payer funded lobby group with the sole purpose of eroding self-defense rights in Washington.

House Bill 1010 passed the House by a vote of 56-42. It allows the Washington State Patrol to waste taxpayer dollars destroying confiscated firearms rather than sell them to raise funds.
unquote.
