I just wanted to confirm that it is legal to carry with one in the chamber, correct? I know you can while concealed carrying. Do you need a CCW to have one in the chamber if open carrying?

Who and how would someone (in Wisconsin) check your openly carried weapon to determine whether it was being carried with one in the chamber? As long as you weren't doing anything illegal, nobody is looking inside.

P226 SAO cocked and locked.

For the most part, it seems Wisconsin's laws don't have a whole bunch of the Mickey Mouse exceptions that some other states have. I read thru that posted FAQ sporadically just to refresh my thinking. I'm on and off school property quite a bit, about the touchiest thing I have to deal with.

Yes, it is legal to carry with a cartridge in the chamber. It is also legal to carry without one in the chamber. It is also legal to carry without a magazine in the firearm. ;) ...but I'm also assuming you are carrying a semi auto and not a revolver. :p
