I wanted to give an update here: I have decided to come back around and readdress this issue.

I have some PDF's for everyone's reading pleasure from the previous volley of correspondence.

My latest update is, I am working with an MT legislator to try and get an official AG Opinion on the issue. Similar to the route taken in the Missoula Background Checks official Attorney General Opinion that Missoula is now challanging.

Without further ado:
Excellent work, and thanks for the links!

And what learning I got from the material - bus riding is apparently an act of "public assembly"!  (page 6 of the bus company's reply pdf)

Their entire reply, though much more detailed, is the same sort of "We get to make our own rules!" stuff that I got from the Dayton (Ohio) RTA.

Please keep us informed, and once again, nice work!

Re "making their own rules." They're going to need a strong tail wind to make that kite fly...:p

Slap, what can I do to help from Philipsburg?

Nothing at this moment, I'll contact you if something comes up. Maybe just be familiar with the history, it's all in my previous post. Thanks for the offer.

I'll keep everyone updated as it evolves. Hopefully I will be able to kick the can down the road a bit.

With the passage and effective date of LR-130 having passed I have renewed my conversation with MUTD regarding their continued violation of state preemption by restricting the carry of firearms on MUTD Buses.

The previous slapmonkay.com url's are broken links but I have attached the MUTD Lawyer Response to my original inquiry from years past for those that might be interested in getting caught up.

I'll try and update this when I hear something back.
