What do y'all think and where should I DEFINITELY not go with this on my side?

Hi! Welcome to OCDO. I'm guessing you are somewhere in La.

Start here http://www.laopencarry.org/faq.shtml

Except where they tell you it's against the law, it's not against the law or legally posted as "No Guns" - and especially places like MRI machines.:shocker::D Remember, if a private property owner/manager asks you to leave even though there is no "No Guns" posting, leave first and then deal with the issues behind being asked to leave.

Otherwise, "Wear it with pride!"

stay safe.

Open carry is barred in places where there is ANY "No Guns" sign, where alcohol is served for on the property consumption, government buildings (in general), Federal buildings and, in some cases like the VA, on the property, Voting places and within 1,000 feet of a school. No guns allowed in a police station or jail and other places as well. I HIGHLY suggest that you read all of the info on our web site at http://laopencarry.org If you decide to Openly Carry, we HIGHLY recommend get some training and that you memorize the phone number of the lawyer you will want to call should you ever need one. You will also want to carry in a good retention holster. A cheap nylon holster with a velcro strap is NOT a good retention holster!

Please note that the police in a few areas of Louisiana appear NOT to be knowledgeable/don't care that Open Carry is legal and your chance of hassles IS higher there. New Orleans is BAD about this.

Having said all that, I have Open Carried for over 30 years now (on and off) in the Shreveport area without ANY bad experiences with the law. It all depends on how much you know, how you look, how you handle yourself and where you carry (some places WILL hassle you like New Orleans).

... It all depends on ..., how you look, how you handle yourself ...

Where is the "rolling on the floor laughing so hard I'm soiling my pants" emoticon/emoji?

Herohog and I are buds from way back when, so I can get away with making fun of his "how you look" comments. He's the homeless guy in a wheelchair on the corner with a sign that says (on the side he shows most of the time) "Please Help" to my homeless guy who sleeps on the steam grates in the winter.:uhoh:

If either of us invite you to perform a physically and sexually impossible act on yourself it usually means we like you. You do not want to know how we relate to folks we do not like.:D

But we do bathe regularly, and he has a saint of a wife who most of the time keeps him from being a total jerk. No worse enemy, no better friend.

stay safe.

As to "How you look," by that I mean, if ya are wearing camo or BDu's and ya aren't active military, ya are not going to make a very good impression and will set off more than a few perception "alarms." Same goes for pants hanging around yer knees, "wife beater" T's with yer ball cap turned backwards (the bill goes in the FRONT!) or just looking like a slob in general. Ya don't have to wear a suit, but ya don't want to look like a schlub either. Here is how I look when I go out in public these days: speedyswheels.jpg Not the picture of class and sophistication but other than my pasty white and scarred up legs, clean, neat and not offensive or scary (unless gimpy fat people scare ya) in general.

Looks like a solid rig, Herohog.

May I compliment you on your choice of footwear. That too is my usual style when doing general stuff around the house.

My flip-flops, shorts and life is good t-shirt complimentary the my holstered RAMI beautifully. I like to make a fashion statement.

I've seen rougher looking individuals OC'ing around here so I don't feel so bad.

The "No Guns" sign "rules" are pretty much nonexistent. The size, content and location of these signs are pretty much unrestricted in LA.

LRS 40:1379.3 §1309, G, 13: ...any other property or premises where access by those possessing a concealed handgun is restricted by the property owner, lessee or lawful custodian.
According to LSP Concealed Handgun Permit Division the sign is a restriction by the owner.

Please note that the cite above specifies a “concealed” gun. If you are open carrying Cops will ignore that part and then it’s up to the lawyers and the judge to sort out as I see it.

LOCAL’s stance is this: If you are asked to leave a business, LEAVE! Do not argue with them, leave right then. If they ask you to take your gun out and put it in your car, LEAVE then. Either put your gun in your car or go elsewhere.
