Hey guys and gals, I know this has been discussed n here before. But I can't get the search to work

I like to work the pro gun boothes at festivities. Every once and a while I get some anti defense nuts, and too I get good people that have good stories

I would like to have a small recording camera, that I could wear, that would not be an aggravation. Comfortable to wear. And give a good view of people.

I thought about the ones you hook over your ear. Another factor is cost, but most of the ones I looked at were reasonable priced. There are so many to choose from I was hoping some of you would have a good suggestion. Thanks

Go Pro seems to be the standard. Check your local Wally World - the ones around here usually have them in stock. Drop a SIM card in, charge up the battery, and make sure it is not pointing down at your feet. (headband is the easiest way to avoid that but is pretty obvious)

The spy-ware cameras (clip onto your glasses ear piece, are part of your eyeglasses frame, etc) may have a shorter run time and/or less ability to store your video. But it will "force" you to look people in the eye.

Do check your local laws on videoing - it is often far more restrictive than audio recording. However, you are welcome to stretch the "public figure in a public place" concept as far as you want.

stay safe.

There was a lot of body cam venders at the shot show in the police supply section some very small ones with a lot of run time.

I would search for police body cams.

You can spend a fortune on the more sophicated body cams but I agree with Skid...gopro is the industry standard...but they're expensive too. There is a crop of gopro knockoffs lately, some with very good video and audio and priced under a hundred dollars. The chest mount is the most comfortable and gives good coverage.

The new GoPro Hero 4 Session is a fraction of the size of the traditional GoPro cams. It's priced at $400 though, but it's small enough to mount on a ball cap and not feel bulky

Comparison:

Thanks guys, I looked at the gopro 4, and other gopros. 400 for the 4, seen others for less
They do look.a little obvious. But they do seem to be of good quality

I've been looking at the ones that clip on your ear. But I don't know which one is the best to get
Prices run from 50 to 200. Most say they hold 5 hours of video. hard making a decision

Yeah SKID, the gopro has a heavy duty head band. I don't know how hard it would be to line up

BTW, I worked for a tv station a while. Laws are if in public and plan sight, there is no expectation of privacy. The courts have ruled on this, and also.that LEOs have a duty to be filmed

I have a Veho Muvi Pro, cost me about $40 on Amazon. Fully charged, it should record at least 3 hours, and with a 8gb micro SD chip, record about that long.
It has its problems though, like quality of video, quality of audio. The download of the video to a computer takes a while, it's slow, but that can be remedied by having a spare micro SD chip handy. It's very small, which is nice.
For the price, it's a good tool.

Chinese knock offs serve a purpose all things considered, price v. quality.

The are covert cameras in ball caps, glasses, pens. Still I might consider setting up a table top unit and letting it run. :)

Product at the police supply section are for purchase by taxpayer supported corporate entities. The taxpayer is assumed to have infinite resources. For the citizen, expense is relative to priorities.

Exactly if a better camera saves you thousands in legal fees and from jail the price extra price would be worth it.

I have two "gopros", one branded and one a knock-off. Both work extremely well and we wear them on our motorcycles. Industry standard? I don't know about that, but mine are great.

On cost........I cannot say pawnshop enough. My branded gopro came with ALL the accessories but the selfie stick and totaled US$125. Stretch those FRNs as far as you can and NEVER pay "full price". evilbay and alibaba work well too.

Expensive is relative to how much money one has.

thats very true and also how much one is willing to spend. my father taught 100$ was a lot for a gun but would spend thousands to get satellite TV

I am also looking since a person would be limited in how long to record, of also getting more then one

some say they work with phone. How does that work??

looking at some made like LE body cams. probably like guns, will just have to buy one and try it out

It is amazing how people react to being video recorded, and how the stupid seem to come out of the woodwork. Make sure you know what the laws are. In Colorado, Utah & Wyoming they are "single-party states" meaning that if you are recording and know that you are recording, then it's legal. No one has to know. California, Nevada & Illinois, for example, are "all-party states" meaning that everyone knows and allows otherwise it's illegal.

Just to clarify, "wiretap laws" only apply to an expectation of privacy. Say like on your private ground lines, or in your house. But if you are in a public place, it is totally legal to record. This has been argued many times by celebrities. I don't know the specific ruling. I do understand that SCOUS has ruled this.

You're preaching to the choir, Papa. A few months ago I was arrested but not booked or charged for taking pics in public. Still fighting that one, even though I wasn't charged it ultimately cost me my enrollment in college.

What you & I know is one thing, what case law is is one thing, but what the cop think they know or pretend to know, that's a different ball of wax.

Sorry to.hear.of.your trouble LOGAN. sounds a lot like when you are.legally carrying a firearm, and you get harassed. You also will get "taken in", but neither booked or charged. Maybe there is connection between the two.

Don't know.how you lost your collage. Just by being questioned. Sounds like grounds for law suit
Have you checked with the group PINAC, photography is not a crime. Or Copblockers. At least to.see what they say.
