Scale back of civil asset forfeiture...wow. I never thought I'd see EH do anything not evil.

Reason article[/QUOTE said:
Big, huge news on the civil asset forfeiture front: Eric Holder is ordering an end to most of the Department of Justice’s Equitable Sharing Program. This is the program where the DOJ works with local law enforcement agencies for busts, and then the law enforcement agencies are permitted to keep 80 percent of the assets seized. It has been an incubator of the worst police abuses, as some agencies looked for any possible reason to take people’s property without ever actually accusing them with a crime. That difference between how the state and federal programs operate is important. The federal program is what encouraged the police abuse because the agencies got to keep the money (and cars, and whatever else they snatched). When the money goes into the general fund, not directly to the police, there goes the incentive for police to grab whatever they can get their hands on.

Hmm, sounds like Holder is cop bashing to me. If you read the rest of the comment he names a broad exception 'public safety', which could mean anything. So, no. Besides what the AG says is just on the order of a mild suggestion.

I think it's a good step. The oh so rare  bad cop out there would be more likely to abuse the power if the cash went right to the cops rather than into the general fund.

This is probably the GREATEST action of the entire Obama administration.

In no way does it absolve them of ALL their crimes (Obama and Holder), but it is something that every American should know about.

Probably a precursor to the eminent domain equation for the Keystone Pipeline they are hell bent on stopping..

I'm so glad someone at least mentioned that aspect of the keystone. I have been howling at my ***** senator Shelley Capito, who voted for it, about the eminent domain sham going on without so much as an acknowledgement. It is without a doubt the most important and totally ignored aspect of the pipeline.

Reason article said:
Holder's order applies only to "adoption," which happens when a state or local agency seizes property on its own and then asks the Justice Department to pursue forfeiture under federal law. "Over the last six years," the DOJ says in the press release announcing Holder's new policy, "adoptions accounted for roughly three percent of the value of forfeitures in the Department of Justice Asset Forfeiture Program."

Thanks Bee. Paul was on the show Kennedy (fox business) the other night and said laws should be passed so that no pigs could steal property until a party is CONVICTED.
Right now they can steal it without even CHARGING someone.

Wow more insults. pig again.

You must have connections here or you would be banned for sure.
