.

I'm looking at several of the state info PDFs from www.handgunlaw.us and notice that they're now including some info on OC... but they also include this unfounded warning:

"When open carrying, be prepared for Police Officers [sic] to question you as open carrying firearm gets their attention."

(Yes, all the PDFs I'm looking at have exactly the same phrase, same misuse of capitals, same missing article.)

In some states this may be true, but in most places officers are well aware of citizens' rights and behave appropriately.

Yeah I noticed that a couple months ago, too.

I've been meaning to give him some detailed info on NV, UT, and AZ, to see if he can be more specific about how actually very easy it is out here.

He is quick to make corrections with other things, so I'm hopeful.

I put the limited Open Carry info on the site because I was getting so many questions about it and why I didn't have that info. Just if it was legal or not. If a Permit/License was required to Open Carry and the min age to open carry. For a few states I put in some info that was unique to that state. Since I added that section over a year ago (May 2013) I have not received one question about Open Carry. I also have not looked at the laws as they apply to Open Carry as I have concerning Concealed Carry. That is why I listed OpenCarry.org as the place to go to find out more information and even listed all the State RKBA Orgs on Open Carry in the State RKBA Orgs Document that I could find. They already have the information for their state on Open Carry.

Grammar/Spelling/Punctuation and I have had a very difficult relationship in my 63 years. It is by far my weakest area. So if you see something that needs corrected I would very much appreciate a heads up and I will correct it.

As for the warning on Open Carry and the Police I have read so many stories about encounters of this nature that were not very friendly. The vast majority of the questions I get are from those who know very little to nothing about the laws on carrying firearms. They are just starting their journey on carrying a firearm for self defense. That is who the Open Carry section is written for.

I will look at the open carry wording on each states page again and over the next week will tweak it if possible. Thank you for pointing out my grammar errors. Much appreciated.

first thanks for your site, second, might check NC's flyer for current info about the excellent OC opportunities in yander Tarheel state.

remember tho, the run ins mentioned by this membership are not anywhere indicative of JQP's OC experiences as we kinda tend to report the negative for the benefit of the membership verses our everyday 'sigh another uneventful day of OC'g in mister roger's neighborhood'.
