Sorry for the long post, but here it is:
I just got back from the Louisa Walmart where the cops were called, a fed up Asst Manager and a (small) scene.
As I walked into Walmart I noticed three men a head of me. I would place their age between 16-18. Maybe children would be more of an appropriate word. They looked like the common "gangsta" wannabes. Two were wearing white T-shirts with the floral pattern and crosses. They usually say Tapout on them. What caught my attention was a seemingly able bodied man doing wheelies in the courtesy wheelchair through Walmart.
Other than my disgust of this, I thought nothing of it.
Since I was looking for food, our paths separated. I don't know where they went. Unable to find anything I then went to the sporting goods.
I was looking at dry boxes. Out of the corner of my eye, down the aisle from me I seen something white moving. It was one of the men. He quickly darted back behind the aisle he was coming from. This is back towards the automotive.
"N***** has a gun" and some weird noises started coming from that direction. Multiple times. I can only assume that the noises where what they though sex sounds like.
I knew they had to be referring to me. "Tough guys" without the courage to even say this to my face.
After a little bit of this, I decided it was best to go.
As I was leaving one of the boys come out from an aisle on a skate bored. "Whats up gangster" was his greeting. I chose not to reply.
I caught a manager on my way out an informed him of the scene in the back. Jason O'Brian. His only reply was "That don't happen in my store" before he left to confront the boys.
My girlfriend wanted a movie from Redbox located in the entry way. As we were browsing the boys past us. Smiling as they past. They must have thought they "won" something.
They didn't realize that they were getting kicked out of Walmart or that a city officer was on his way. At this point, neither did I.
They lingered a while, even after I was to my truck. Two tried to reenter Walmart, only to be stopped by a manager. So they left.
As I was leaving I passed the officer, an old friend. Thinking he was either looking for me, or the boys I turned around to talk to him. He could have found me if he was looking, I thought to save him the trouble.
The manager had apparently called him on the boys and the officer soon gave chase. I don't know if he caught up to them.
I took this time to thank the Asst. Manager. Of course I feel like he did the right thing. It seems to often that we OCers are looked upon as the bad guys in situations such as these, but he went to the source of the problem.
I would just like to say, way to go Mr. O'Brian. You handled this well.
