Leaning back on topic a bit. Has anyone investigated the shooters family? I'd like to see not just how they're doing financially now but keep looking to see if their wealth and net worth makes any sudden jumps in the future. Is anyone in his family suffering from some long term illness that will require life long, and perhaps expensive care? how about their debt situation? People will do insane things if they believe the sacrifice they make for themselves will secure the future of their family.

I know that when I received my first duty assignment in the Army, CID met with me to learn everything they could about my criminal history, and my financial circumstances before they entrusted me with a Secret Security Clearance. They were very interested in my family's economic circumstances as well. They explained in my interview that just because my financials were in good order, they need to know that my integrity would be solid should someone attempt to manipulate my family to get to me.

The scary part is, this type of scenario is only likely to be disclosed to us should some foreign power have been the puppet master. If our own alphabet soup of government agencies were behind something like this, they'll have already taken this into account and have planned contingencies to prevent the plot from being discovered.

Yes I know this all seems like a far fetched conspiracy theory, but I do believe there can be a healthy distrust of our government. If we never consider all the angles, many times we'll never know the true answers.

Waco, Ruby Ridge and F&F. And NO, your idea is not far fetched

Has anybody considered that James Holmes may have been a Conspiracy Theorist. I bet his ballistic helmet was actually made of aluminum foil.

\ The tragedy that played out in an Aurora movie theater Friday was ironically paralleled as a classroom learning experience in a medical school in Parker the same day. "The irony is amazing, just amazing," said Rocky Vista Dean Dr. Bruce Dubin.

Hmm where have I seen this before . . . Oh ya 9/11. this does not mean that it was a setup but just well . . . smells funny

I was talking with my girlfriend about this....He had actually withdrawn from school not too long before the shooting. So all of that tuition money (from mommy and daddy, grants, or school loans) was there for his pleasure. Maybe that's where he got the funding from?

Grants are usually pretty specific and paid or credited directly to the school, housing, etc, to keep students from blowing the money.

Look at the war zone that is Chicago, Il! How many of the murders have been committed by someone who worked hard for the money they spent on the gun they used to kill someone? My guess is none of them. I would venture to say that in almost all cases, these f uck heads were collecting our tax money and that money contributed to their ability to illegally buy a gun.

Perhaps that could be a good place to start looking. If you're getting some kind of government assistance, be it FAFSA, or welfare, the people have a right to know what you are spending our money on. If you cannot prove that it is going towards actual expenses related to it's intended purpose, you get cut off and anything deemed to be the illegitimate proceeds of your misappropriation of funds must be confiscated. And no, that doesn't mean you can study "human sexuality" at college and spend your grant money on hookers.

Sure, you have the right to be secure from unreasonable search and seizure, but when you're taking money that the rest of us worked hard to provide the state, we have just as much of a right to disclosure. To spend our money under false pretenses is a matter of fraud, waste and abuse. I'me quite sure there are regulations covering this already.

If you are receiving state and federal aid of any kind, you better be able to feed, clothe and house yourself from your own resources before you can purchase a firearm. Oh yeah, and the money you use to buy a gun must also come out of your privately earned funds as well.

Not disagreeing here (or agreeing) but what about those Americans, who have every right you have, who are full time students for sometimes 10+ years, who have ZERO private earned funds (aka only loans or scholarships or grants only as a student). Do they not deserve the right to buy, own, carry and defend themsleves? I myself worked 40 hours or more a week while in college, but in hindsight would have preferred my entire time devoted to studies. I'm just curious on your thoughts here.

I have my theories. One of which being the fact that the UN is behind closed doors trying to take our guns, and it just happens at the same time as the theater shooting. Could be coincidence. Could be another "action" event. Like Oklahoma City and WTC.

A couple more suspicions....
Why did he just give up? I can't remember the source, but it said he was arrested without incident.
And if he was so set on causing as much chaos as possible, why tell the cops about his booby trapped apartment?

Just theories, but something to think about.

They do, And I believe a reasonable amount of expenditure from publicly granted funds can be spent on a firearm as a "cost" of living. A carry weapon for example, would not send up a red flag, but the purchase of 2 pistols, an AR, and a tactical shotgun coupled with an exorbitant amount of income from public funds should trigger an investigation as it would pertain to fraud, waste and abuse. I take no issue with a person attending grad school taking a reasonable amount of subsidized income to purchase a self defense weapon.

I'm guessing he didn't pay with a government check...
