I'm sure I will ask the same questions during my apt today. I have read that I can openly carry a "unloaded" handgun in Oregon? I was under the impression the gun must be hidden under my shirt or coat.

Carrying a gun "hidden under my shirt or coat" is definitely not OC.

Short synopsis here

If I'm reading that link correctly, I can NOT open carry in oregon.

You're not reading.

I also highly advise against asking law enforcement, bureaucrats, or any other feeders-out-of-the-public-trough about firearms laws because you are likely to come out of it even more confused and misinformed than you are now.

Hey

As far as anyone around here has identified, Open Carry is legal in most cities in oregon. Cities can regulate how one carries if you do not have a CHL, but few cities do. Oregon, if i have read correct is an Open Carry 'Loaded' firearm state.

Your post leaves a lot of information to be guessed at.

Do you have a CHL? If so you can open carry anywhere you can conceal carry.
If you don't have a CHL then you can open carry anywhere you could with a CHL outside of schools and public buildings. You also cannot open carry a loaded weapon in cities that have laws saying you need a CHL to open carry. You can unloaded open carry there though.

Still confused? Read the pamphlet.

Guess I was not reading between the lines. After getting finger printed and my picture taken I asked the lady about Open Carry. She said for me to do my research and understand there is a grey area. 3 to 5 weeks I will have my ID. Thanks again.

:banghead:

At least she didn't tell you it was illegal, which would not have surprised me. As stated before, DO NOT ask government employees for legal advice. That is what lawyers are for...

Not lying to him was a good step. However, as mentioned. You are much better off reading the stuff yourself.

There is a great book by Kevin Starrett..

Thanks everyone for the information. The lady started talking about how it depends on what side of i 84 you are. I knew at that point she too is clueless.
